I have a Python 4204P alarm in my truck. I've had it since I got the truck so about 7 years old now (geez).

Anyway, I got a replacement remote about a year ago because the original stopped working. When I unlock or lock my vehicle the remote gives an audible response since its a two way remote. It lets me know that it was locked or unlocked among other things.

Recently, the battery started dying on the remote (It will audibly beep a few times when its time to replace the battery: 2x 2016[3v]) so I replaced the battery. It started doing it AGAIN maybe two days after I put new batteries in.

I put some no name cheapo batteries in so I went and bought some duracell batteries and same thing, after a day or two the batteries start going out and eventually im stuck and cannot unlock my truck. Sometimes removing the batteries and putting them back in will let me unlock the truck

To me it sounds like a faulty remote, even though Its only a year old. Can anyone else think of a reason other than a bad remote?

I am looking at buying a replacement on ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Python-7254...pt=US_Replacement_Remotes&hash=item51c287dfaf

That isn't the exact model I have. I guess they don't make my version anymore but according to that ebay page, they are compatible and on the same frequency.
