    Hello everyone!

This is my first post here and I don't know what to do lol.

I am from the Chicago area and I have been to 3 dealerships and all of them refused to work with me to get a TRD Pro with MT. They all told me that they are allocated 1-2 Tacoma TRD Pro per year and that they usually like to mark up the price. I don't really want to pay more than 45k for a Tacoma, which is why I want the MT since its 42k and seems like a good overall package. (I also prefer the MT). Anyways, I contacted Toyota Corporate and they opened up a case for me. Maybe they will be able to work some magic. Will hear more on Monday.

I also noticed on the online configurator that there is no option for MT TRD Pro? However, no dealer said they don't make them anymore, they just implied its hard to get allocated a spot..

Any advice on what to do? I looked into other dealerships in the US but all the ones with the M/T are 600+ miles away and marked up... :(

    Thanks!

Call around and be persistent. Let them know you’re serious and not paying a penny over MSRP. I just picked up my ‘19 Pro MT for $1500 under MSRP. When I first called they told me they wanted $6k over MSRP. A couple weeks of back and forth later and they agreed to my original offer. It was a 2.5hr drive but worth it.

    Also, contact Aaron from
    https://www.fremonttoyota.com/ -
I think he’s the online sales guy. I text him and he was willing to order for me at MSRP.

Wow congratulations! Unfortunately in my case all the M/Ts are more than 2.5 hours drive. Way further...

I'll give it a shot. If he is able to do this then it all comes down to how much shipping will cost to Chicago.

Im fairly certain of this, but Pros arent available for order. Dealers are allocated them, you can put a deposit down at most to hold a place in line when and if they get one.

They're not wrong......Toyota dealers can't order a vehicle the same way Ford or Chrysler dealers can. They get told what they're getting and that's that. They call it "allocation"

Back in May 2016 I visited 5 or 6 dealers in Philly and got the same story. So I then called and emailed ~40 in a 500mi radius. All said the same thing, all offered me an alternative truck that was in stock (usually an AT). Finally I looked up the largest dealer in the country (Fred Haas in Houston TX) figuring they'd have the largest allocation and therefore the best chance of having the truck I wanted (white MT pro).......sure enough they had one in the pipeline for Nov 2016. I put down $500 fully refundable on my card and 6mo later I flew one-way down to Houston to get it. I paid straight MSRP which I thought was fair considering the price inflation that guys talk about on here for both MTs and Pros.

Great people to work with at Fred Haas and I'd do it all over again if I had to.

For the amount of money you're going to throw down on a new vehicle, don't settle. Good luck and welcome to TW!

    Thanks for the welcome!

Yes I understand regarding the allocations. That is also why I contacted Toyota corporate to see what they can do about the allocations (maybe they can allocate additional spot to a local dealer?). Toyota said they will contact a local dealer on Monday.

Does anyone know why the online configurator doesn't have M/T option anymore?

this is true. it's also true that they just see them as money makers, so if you want to:
    1 - score a Pro
    2 - score a MT
3 - get remembered about #1 and/or #2 if they actually receive the allocation...

then you'll need to either build a relationship and be patient over when/if it arrives, or work for it by looking further out and deal with the distance, etc. i planned way ahead and built the relationship, and it was almost 6 months of work & patience. ended up getting the first 3g MT Pro delivered in Texas. that was 2 years ago, so ymmv.

I just drove 450 miles one way to pick up my TRD OFF-ROAD with MT. I searched cars.com and emailed all the dealers within 500 miles that had a truck I was interested in.

It probably has to do with what zip code you’re building in. If there isn’t a MT Pro allocated to that zip, it may not show in the configurator. Check zips for really big dealers and cities. Others may chime in with more info.

I ordered a Pro MT and a automatic came. My buddy is the finance guy and said the new car manager messed up and ordered wrong.

Bought a TRD Sport and added leather and 3 inch fox suspension lift with wheels and tires and added a PRO grill.... bigger lift with bigger wheels and tires and 3 grand less! I am happier!!!

This is false. I ordered a PRO back in October and I just got a build date of March 5 and a delivery date of March 16th.

I ordered a Voodoo Blue MT with NO DAI.

You can order a PRO, however there was a brief time when Toyota stopped accepting orders of all MT Pro trucks. They only recently began approving orders. I had to go to several dealerships to get one to work with.

Just tried with zip code 28659 (where I know a local Toyota dealer has a M/T) and it showed up! Good call.

appreciate your interpretation, but you cannot order one, you just get line and Corporate allocates to regional distribution based on sales performance and strategy. it may appear to be a typical order, but they don't have an order from your spec on their desk. TBH the majority of sales people are not even aware of how it works. but it usually works out, because their sales distribution strategies are solid. it's not a high seller for nothing. at the decision making level where trucks are decided where they go for sale, there are no customers involved.
