They do, but it's rare because of how much they charge.

I brought this up with the Supervisor and he says that people before us ruined it. They also told me many times that they don't know much about welding or fabrication design, but when I tell them my experience and credentials, they say "too bad".

I know of a few people that have gotten recon lately with a SAS.

It really depends on who you get and what you say to them. I wanted everything on my inspection paperwork so IF I get pulled over the cops can't make up some bs and so safety inspectors would have no excuses to give me a sticker.

They are working on a waiver for modified frames that waives the states liability if you cause an accident because of your modifications. The C&C is discussing it right now.
Pretty sure the EPA controls what state gets emissions testing.

Send it to the Mayors office and your city representative, that's what the action line will tell you.

    Sorry, what did they ruin?

I wonder how hard they inspect salvage rebuilt vehicles?

Yes and they are investigating the corruption with the inspection process.
They said that before recon started they had a lot of hacked vehicles on the road and that is part of the reason for starting recon.

I brought that subject up with the supervisor at recon and the director of motor vehicle safety, the director told me I didn't know shit even though I've seen some really shady frame repairs at my cousins old shop (they came in to get fixed). The director doesn't know what is going on in real life, only knows the rules in the book.

Sorry I wasn't talking about recon permit, I was talking about how they recertify for the salvage rebuilt titles to be roadworthy. Pulled frames, backhalfed cars, you know, the cars doing the crab walk going down he road...

Oh. I thought if it came with it from the factory, it needs it. Cool. Stock flaps still didn't cover my tire fully tho. Still passed.

If I can get it done, I rather just slap it on and increase my chances of getting passed the first go-around. Sent you a PM, if you could send me the measurements/dimensions you used on yours.

I went down today and passed. Only problem was the sticker on the rear window. I've had that sticker pretty much as long as I have had the truck, but I was more than happy to take it off. Just so happy to be legal again! Stopped by to see my friend and ask if he had any safety cancelations before my appointment on Monday and he said he would go ahead and do it before closing today. He was about to head home but stayed and got me done in about a half hour :)
