Okay, I'll prob just mount it all up and then shoot for recon, I just hope I don't run into any issues making sure shit is aligned go spec

Shouldn't be a problem. Last time I took in my alignment papers they didn't even look at them

They said I just had to bring them as proof that I had it done, but he didn't even look at the numbers or the date. I had it folded up so I probably could have just brought a blank piece of paper lol

it's still a grey area...when I got the new safety last year after recon, the safety place checked my tires against my recon, but beyond it being "raised" he didn't care what I had installed.

He did measure the license plate and bumper heights though and checked those against recon. probably the only way to verify that the truck is the same as when it went to recon vs getting recon and lifting it more where the bumper height is way off.

It's a gray area as far as the inspection goes, but it says it in plain English in the RECON manual :) Gotta write down any/all modifications once the vehicle requires RECON..

My recon papers are very vague. It basically just says "aftermarket" for all the items. No brands. As long as I keep the bumper hieghts the same as listed then there's really no way for the safety inspector to know that I changed any suspension parts on the truck. I do have to go list my new bumpers though. But I have a year to do it.

A cop could still cite you for the bumpers though, unless you go down and add em.

Recon had me list my rims as <special 16"> when the stock size is 16...

Almost at the point of just marking everything on the truck as "aftermarket"

Can't a cop technically tear up your papers if they want? Even if you're in the right you can't stop them from tearing it up. Like how my rigids are RECON approved as long as any over 54 inches are covered, but if a cop says no offroad lights are allowed he can just tear it up without physically showing proof before he does it?

If you try and grab your stuff before he tears it in an effort to save your papers until he can prove to you that you are in the wrong, you are likely to hear "taser taser taser" before you take an invoulentary nap :D

I cranked my coils a few times since recon, and its higher than stated. I went in for a new safety check and the guy broke out the yard stick and I could tell he didn't know where to measure and that the heights from wherever he measured was different from my paperwork. He said it was good and gave me the safety anyway :D

Lol yeah cause they measure from the lowest point usually right? But since there is no real guide line it's all up in the air :D

just having off-road lights on the car is fine. they can only do something if you have them on when they shouldn't be, or over the max operating lights.

that's about the time where the cell phone camera will come out and start recording. beyond "he said, she said", video is always honest.

    Yup, cameras FTW :D

But you still gotta go back to RECON when he shreds your papers, even if you have a video of it

If "technically" you just changed the bumper and not the suspension, do you still need a new alignment for the recon revisit?? Or only if you changed suspension??

I'm gonna try and get in before I gotta go back to work. The 885s brought me pretty much up to where I was after the bumper brought me down. I'll probably grab an alignment sooner than later, but the recon revisit takes a little more presidence. If my bumper height is close to what it was, I'll probably just chance going back in. Bumper is aluminum, so if they ask, it technically is only a couple lbs heavier than stock..

maybe not, since the wheels and tires is more for needing fender coverage or not, I think it's common to get an alignment with new wheels though, but if you had one recently you might still be ok.
