Thanks for the info. I thought that would be the case if I chose just to do the 5100s just to level my truck out.

Not sure if it's already been asked, but how far down does the fender flares have to be to pass? For the front, can I just stop at the end of the front part of the fender, or do I have to go all the way down the front bumper? Gonna go recon Monday and hoping it's a one time deal, I'd hate to have to take off from work again if I fail. Also, any tips on a passing with flying colors would be much appreciated.
Here's a pic of my truck right now. Gonna install the fender flat extensions and rear mudflaps tomorrow
    Thanks!

I'm not sure if you need the flares to run all the way down to the bumper. Im running glass with a tube bumper and I just had the flares go down to the end of my fenders (no other option) and recon passed me with that setup.

That's what I was thinking. Nothing to mount the flares to. But someone told me they'd have to come all the way down.

@Uncle Creepy btw, is that a pic of your taco as your avatar? If it is, at what part of the bumper did they take the bumper height measurement from?

Yes it is, and they measured from the upper tube.

If you're looking down from the top of the fender, any part of the tire tread that sticks out must be covered. I don't think the front coverage matters, only the top and rear sides of the tire.

I passed with my sidewalls sticking out a little, but as Vigo said, when looking from the top, the top tread that makes contact with the ground has to be covered.

Another question. For everyone running plate style bumpers. At which point of the bumper are they measuring for bumper height. I know it's the highest point of the bottom of the bumper, but if it is, I figure would be kinda hard to pass for bumpers that come up high on the outside edges (#1) of the bumper.

They'll probably measure from where you drew the #2 line but y ou don't need to worry about that. That is just used for a reference so thesafety guy knows if your ride height changed from when you got recon. Also, is that the wheel/tire combo you are getting recon with in that pic? If it is, doesn't look like you need any extra flares. If not, do you have a pic like this of your new wheel/tires?

Edit: never mind. That's not even your truck.

I see. Seems like would be easier to pass if measured from line #2.
The pic with the relentless fab bumper isn't my truck,I just pulled it off of their IG page. I do plan on getting their new redesigned plate bumper for the 05-11 tacos, looks a lot better than their old design. Here's the best pic showing my trucks wheel fitment that I took yesterday after I mounted my glass fenders. Tread sticks out a little under two inches, which I already have covered as I'll be mounting flare extensions today.

that sounds super annoying. every year you gotta put that back on just to pass safety, then you take it off and store it for another year. plus, if a cop is having a bad day, he can tag you for not having all that wonderful garden decorations and rip your recon.

Yeah that's what I never understood. I see Fords and Chevys lifted two feet running 15x12 inch wheels with low profile tires and think to myself, no way will a cop care if there's a recon sticker on the bumper, that dude is gonna get pulled over anyway.
