I agree! And why the hell only Oahu? I'd like to see some evidence that the Recon system has saved lives or prevented accidents. I can see the over the top and obnoxious builds getting the attention of HPD but no need a fricken sticker for a guy who changed his wheels out 1".

But then again we are the only state that makes you wear a seat belt, won't let you text and drive but thinks it's perfectly fine to load up the wife and kids in the bed of a truck and go 60+ mph on the H1....

Saw a guy today mounting garden edging on his jeep with duct tape. Will he pass? And yeah, he did look like a redneck.

Has to be secured, screws/ bolts/ some kind of hardware. The permit is for the flares (body modification). not for the fact that the tires stick out of the wheelwell.

Mike, you were right! No need for Bushwacker fender flares! Passed recon with my set up yesterday.
Original fender flares and original mud flaps. Pro Comp Nitro 3" lift leveling kit (spacers, 3" in front, 1" in rear).
285/70R17 MT Baja ATZP3's wrapping Pro Comp Vertigo grey series 40 wheels with -6 offset and 4.75 back spacing.

Also, I returned the Bushwacker fender flares because I didn't need them to pass recon. 4WP only refunded me the cost of the fender flares and tax. They would not refund me for any of the shipping fee. The guy said I was only charged shipping on my wheels, tires, and lift kit. Doesn't make any sense and I questioned him. But he said he couldn't refund me any of the in freight shipping cost since they only charged me $110 for shipping. He added, since the original cost of shipping of just the wheels, tires, and lift kit would be about $116; he said I was not charged for shipping on the Bushwacker fender flares. The shipping cost of the Bushwackers alone would/should have been about $50. Sounds sketchy to me. They will probably ask for the original price plus tax and shipping to to whoever buys it from them. Bastards.

Are we allowed to mount any off road lights on the driver and passenger side rear view mirrors? Is it legal in this state if mounted on the underside of the mirrors?

You can mount lights wherever. They just can't be green, red, or blue. Also off road lights cannot be used on road.

So light bar on top, one in front of grill and two small LEDs on the side...
Does Amber colored plastic clear covers count as covered?

Got pulled over in Kalihi the other morning for my HID's and my tires sticking out an inch pass my fenders...cop wanted to pull my recon, safety check, and tow my truck because it's "unsafe" said they are cracking down on "illegal recon" trucks. Let me off with a ticket, court date, and a registration stopper

Was the ticket for just the HID's or both (HID's and tires sticking out)?
