Technically you have until your safety is up. I'm pretty sure you dont need an alignment sheet unless youre upgrading suspension parts.

Does a new bumper require Recon if it’s bolt on?

Also, when I updated my recon, I had to provide a new alignment sheet. If I didn’t have it, they would have turned me around. And an update is basically the same as getting a new recon inspection, without the payment since you already paid once.

Damn dude fuck that. I'll just wait until my safty runsout then to get an updated recon. Dont want to spend my money getting another alignment if I dont need it yet. Love my Hawaii tacoma fam but damn I cant wait to leave here. The rules are so damn crazy.

Yeah, I don’t believe recon is required for bolt on bumpers.

Sounds like it depends which inspector you get. When I updated my recon a few months ago for larger tires the guy didn’t even ask for my alignment papers. I even told him I adjusted my C/O higher and he still didn’t ask for new alignment papers. I had it just in case, but didn’t end up needing it.

They even made me bend my bolted on license plate to be perpendicular to the ground saying the angle prevents it from being seen clearly.

Recon is always subjective, depending on who the inspector is and what kind of day they are having.

    Yup, subjective for sure.

I thought recon was required after modifications to suspension or frame, but because HPD usually don’t pull anyone over for questionable modifications, people just drive their modded vehicle until their PMVI sticker expires. And, the recon sticker/document is required to renew PMVI, and expired PMVI sticker could be something HPD pulls you over for...but, again, we’ve all seen vehicles with expired PMVI stickers. LOL.

All I knew was suspension, I didnt know about frame. I feel like they gotta really be low on their quota to pull over for expired safety haha. I drove around my old beater truck for 3 months before I even noticed the safety was expired

I’ve updated recon on 3 different vehicles so far and they never asked for alignment sheet for any of them. All 3 times was for changing tire size. I’d imagine if you changed ride height they would ask for papers though and like seoulja99 said, it kinda depends on the inspector and the day he is having.

Today I passed recon. I was lucky to probably get the coolest inspector named Dave. He was really quick and efficient. He didn’t come with the attitude of trying to fail me. He answered all my questions and even complimented the truck!

Island brake and alignment or Scotty’s. Ask for green sheet for recon, if that is also needed.
