I live here in Hawaii, and most of the time the super lifted trucks are called/known as "high and wide." It's mostly common for guys in their late 20's and 30's to lift their trucks that high.

I'm in my early 20's and all my friends want me to do this ridiculous lift on my Taco. I know I live in Hawaii, but I really, REALLY love overland builds, which is what I'm going for on my Taco.

Good for you not going "high and wide" but building "west coast poser" instead? That's just as terrible.

OK, so this is a Hawaii thing! I was on the big island for a week and a half, and I was convinced Tacoma drivers got fix it tickets for not lifting their trucks. Here are a few examples just from one morning, after which I stopped paying attention to Tacoma mods:

Sorry to disappoint but this in my lowly SR that I drive in the sand and mud with, all the time and it hasn’t been washed in 3 months. I’m born and raised here. The most I’ve lifted any truck was 2” and biggest tires were 33”.

Serious question: Is this actually legal? Tires sticking out of the wheel wells that far (~18"?) and no mud flaps would get you a fist-full of tickets and a flat-bed ride back to your place of residence. IMO, that's idiotic, nothing to do with aesthetics, but anyone driving behind him is going to wear every bit of crap on the road, and when it's raining? Niagara friggin' Falls!

It’s not but it’s all good until you get caught. I believe the current law is no more than 1” outside the fender. DON’T quote me on that because I haven’t been paying attention to it lately because it really hasn’t come up, yet. I say yet because a few years ago it did and guys were getting cited left and right. And we got to see the ugliest shit you ever seen on trucks. All kinds of plastic, clears and colored, sheet metal and all kinds of awful homemade backyard stuff.

Their specialty is 4.88s in the front, and 5.29s in the back, for more torque off the line. As far as I know, they are the only ones doing this.

They have done it to all generations of Toyotas. That last green truck is how I remember them and it seems they’ve gone to larger wheels with lower profile tires. I’t not me but its the style and it’s cool because its different.

I agree. The world would be so boring if we all had the same culture and tastes.
