The hazard lights of my 2010 Tacoma came on tonight and would not shut off. The truck was just sitting in the driveway. I disconnected the battery and reconnected and they still came on. Any idea what's causing this issue?

Have an alarm of any sort?
Bad battery can cause odd things to happen.

    Will truck start?

I know it may sound silly but is the hazard light switch stuck in?

Looked at schematics and the Hazard Lights are controlled by the flasher module.

The Hazard switch connects the HAZ input to the Flasher Module which then turns on the Hazard Lights.

So either the Hazard switch stuck in, is grounded or you have a bad flasher module.

The first time this happened was about a week ago. It stopped after about 5 minutes of fumbling around including pressing the hazard switch. The only after market modifications are the remote starter and a trailer break. Today I hooked up the battery but the truck won't start. The hazard light immediately came on again. It turns over but won't start.

Sounds like your aftermarket remote starter is the one causing the problems. They do more harm than good. Remove it and trash it.

The remote starter has been installed and working without issue since 2011. Seems odd that it is now an issue.

Checked a bunch of the fuses. None are blown. Battery is very weak and the truck will not start. It will turn over but won't start. Now the hazard lights and the key in ignition warning is going off even though the key is not in the ignition. Had to unhook the battery again. Trying to charge up the battery now and will try and start it again later.

Could be because of the battery

Okay...so even though it will turn over it could still be the battery? If so, I will go get a new one. A neighbor told me if it turns over it is not the battery but the battery is old and weak so it needs replacement anyway. The inexplicable flashing of the hazards is what's really bizarre.
