Hey guys I have a 2022 Tacoma and the premium JBL Pioneer head display is black. The buttons next to it are lit up and the rear/front cameras work, but none of the media stuff works. Power volume button works but radio is static. Anyone have a problem like this? I tried a battery reset and checked fuses. Not sure what happened

Search will find several similar cases.

No extended warranty coverage? Crutchfield will be your friend.

Have you tried holding in the Volume button to reset?

You also might try popping out and back in the SD card (while the truck is OFF). Turn the truck back on and see if the display is happy.

Where you'll find your new head unit, assuming this one doesn't come back to life.

I did try holding the volume button to reset it. Also tried holding the volume with the menu button. No dice.
I took out the entire head unit, but didnt find an SD card. Any idea where that is? I feel like it has to be some sort of issue with that or the software, since the lights around the buttons and the cameras work. The screen works.

If I have to go new, im going to go bigger and better. The camera resolution is like a system from the 2000s on this "premium" unit. lol

If you don’t see a slot on the front display, your head unit may not have an SD card.

i remember reading where some TW members had a black screen because of a bad SD card.

No money, all went to truck...
people should buy the extended warranty just to cover the screen failure.

    This and that
Just replaced all my speakers with kickers. Now I’m giving that head unit the hairy eyeball.

Sony from Trailgrid Pro has worked great since I installed it few years back. They have several turn-key options available.

    Brand new.
    Hello,
I have had mine come on and off once in a while knock on wood, but never go out and not come back on.

The blank screen happened to me also. I have a 2024 Toyota Tacoma SR. I took it to the dealer and they said it is because I have an aftermarket dash cam. They said it was because the wiring was messed with. I explained the dash cam did not touch the wiring, it was just plugged into the "cigarette lighter".

This was also after they told me a rodent probably chewed through the wires and wanted me to pay for diagnostics even though the vehicle is only about 6 months old.

sob, my 22 pro did that last weekend when I got back into the truck after shopping costco. I hit the pwr button and the display turned on and haven’t thought about it until now. It was a wtf moment ….now I’m reading it hear and I’m having another wtf moment. I have like 1 month left of the Gold Cert warranty.

Edit: All good here—was able to recreate what happened to me last weekend. Short story, I was playing around with the settings last week and one of the settings messed with was the “display off” on the setup menu. Whew! …only a month left on the bumper-to-warranty.
