I don't have a bad head gasket and I hope I don't for a long time. I'm just curious on how much it'll cost if that ever goes? I have a 02 Tacoma 2.7L and my girlfriend has a 97 4Runner 3.4L. Does the cost differ between the two? and is there anyway I can help prevent a head gasket from going bad? thank you.

HGs aren't a thing that commonly go bad on these motors. The older 3.0L v6 they did, but they fixed that when the 3.4L came out. They're pretty bomb proof motors.

As for parts, they're only like $40-$50 for either gasket. Labor will set you back anywhere from 500-100 probably. Maybe more depending on what shop you go to.

It's honestly not something I'd worry too much about.
