Good morning Tacomaworld I’m hoping you can help me with a problem. Yesterday I washed my truck, including the engine bay. I did not spray anything directly and stood very far away to ensure I did not knock anything loose in the engine bay. Truck runs fine, but when I got home, I noticed that when I turned the truck off and I turned the head lights off after a few minutes, the headlights will turn on and stay on. there is a new hum in my fuse box. But right now I cannot get the headlights to turn off truck is off lights are off. Any ideas

    I think it’s a relay?

So your saying the lights turned off like they are supposed to but then came back on on their own?

You have to post it to a video sharing site and then post the link to it here.

It's most likely the low beam relay. Pull the low beam relay and put the high beam relay in its place, if that fixes the issue order a new relay and then put it into the high beam spot. That will give you headlights (but no high beams) until you can get a new relay.

Bruh u got water in the fuse box lol it’s gonna cause corrosion now and you should just replace it before it gets any worse and into the harnesses

    I'd have to check.
But I don't think there is a separate relay for High and Low.

There's not, there's the HEAD Relay that turns them on and off and the DIM Relay that changes between High and Low beam. They are not interchangeable, the HEAD Relay is 4 pin and the DIM Relay is 5 pin.

Actually, that is correct. Here is a fusebox diagram. #12 is the headlight relay.

It looks like the Heater and DIM relay are interchangeable to swap for an experiment. But if power is being stuck on, it would likely be the HEAD relay.

Yea but the way the OP described it it sounds more like either power is backfeeding and keeping the relay turned on or something is going on with the Body ECU and it's keeping the relay on.
Doesn't hurt to swap relays though, it's quick and easy. Just gotta make sure not to stick a 4 pin relay where a 5 pin belongs.

This is right. Turns off like normal. Stays off then last night when I was asleep turned on.
Last night I pulled the relay that was humming. I could feel it. Once I pulled it out humming stopped. I dried it out with air compressor and let air dry. I put relay back in started truck then turned it off. Lights turned off stayed off until sometime during the night then they turned on. So far truck will start

This seems right with power back feeding

Sorry to be all over the place. I bet you can all imagine. Life is busy and lots of moving parts. Thank you for everyone’s help. So last night everything was off and I went to bed and I woke up to the headlights being on. I pulled the relay that was humming The lights turned off. I just plugged it back in and the humming starts and lights turned on even without starting the truck. The only time I hear humming is when the relay is installed should I just go buy a new relay auto parts store is a way away from me

I'm asuming your pulling the HEAD relay?
If so just swap it with the HORN relay just to rule out the relay.
If that doesn't change anything check the voltage across pins 1 and 2 of the relay socket.

Yes number 12 head relay. I was gonna just go buy a new one. Should that fix my issue?

I doubt it but do the checks I said above to determine if it's a bad relay or something turning the relay on.

I drove to work. Pulled the relay and called it good. I had to run an errand and was gonna do the same thing at my new location but nothing was humming. Drove back to work same thing no humming. Left everything as is. Checked multiple times no lights no humming. Drove home just fine. No humming no lights. I’m gonna leave it overnight and see. Thanks for all the responses.
