    Hey Everyone,

I recently tried to install a Double Din Keenwood Head unit on my '03 tacoma. I had to cut off the adapter and on the tacoma side and wire it directly to the head unit. However once I was done, not only did my head unit not work, but neither did my clock!

Is it possible I blew a fuse somewhere?

    I really appreciate any help.

    Thanks!

Replaced chrome badges with Sockmonkey black badges, painted billet grill black, K&N cold air intake, my corner light turn signal circuit, Speedfreek traction bars, RAAMaudio BXT/Ensolite, Stereo: Kenwood KIV-701 USB/Bluetooth deck, 10" Pioneer shallow sub behind the rear seat, Infinity 6822cf 6x8 front and rear doors, Fosgate P400-2 (sub), US Acoustics USX-4065 (four main speakers)
That is possible. My 2003 has two fuse boxes. One is near the driver's door at the dash and the other is in the engine bay near the battery. From memory, my radio fuse was in the engine bay fuse holder and I believe the fuse labeled "dome" had the radio on it.

I'm curious why you "had to" cut the harness vs "chose to".
If I had to dust off my crystal call it would probably say "didn't want to buy an adapter."

Anyway if you work well enough with wiring it's no big deal. I hardwired a billion of them before adapters were so common. But if you just grabbed a pair of cutters and started chopping you can cause all kinds of problems. Assuming you did the speaker connections correctly you only have a max of 5 wires to worry about. Ground will be black, switched power red, constant yellow, lights orange, and power antenna/amp blue.

Yeah I didnt want to order an adapter online and wait a couple of days lol. Gotta have my music.

Anyways, because the truck is so old it did not follow the traditional wiring standards. which made for a confusing install.

Also i noticed that when i turn off my truck the trip A and trip B get reset to 0? also the lights dont work when the truck is turned off.

    Its pretty weird.

When you wire something and get weird results, rechecked every connection and if you don't solve the problem remove it all and see if the problem persists.

And yet you don't have music.

Sometimes instant gratification isn't the prime plan.

You seem to have incorrect connections as well as possibly some dead circuits. @Indy gives a great outline above.

Best of luck sorting it out!

Thanks everyone for the help! In case anyone else down the road has this problem, for some reason when I connected it originally it blew the fuse. I checked all the connection and then replaced the fuse and it started right up 100% working.

The fuse that goes through the radio is the "dome" fuse located near the battery. It controls a couple of things like the clock and the lights.

    Thanks again y'all!
