Not sure how often @oemaudioplus is on this forum, but thought I'd ask here. Has anyone thrown in an aftermarket head unit while retaining their OEM Audio Plus system and documented connections to the amp, reverse cam, etc?

I had my OA+ system installed way back in 2016 and haven't touched it since, but have the itch to get decent maps on my head unit via Car Play as the Entune map card is from 2015 and lacking many newer roads around town, plus now that I moved from my iPod classic over to Apple Music via Bluetooth, it doesn't reliably display track information on the stock head unit. Annoyingly.

I've heard some are using a Joying HU like this one and if it's mostly plug and play with minor modifications, I'd totally consider that as I'd like to stay within a budget and it seems decent for the price, but also not really a known brand name with support. Their own site only shows 2005-2015 Tacoma units, nothing about 2016+ so that's a little strange to me.

I love the sound I already have and the stock HU is quite responsive, but for better maps and Car Play I'd love to just have a good HU vs mounting my phone up top all the time in the holder I have. It works, but it's obviously much smaller (12 mini) and can get in the way.

Thanks in advance! My last unit I had in my 2009 Tundra was an Alpine double din something or other but it was not a touch screen. And it had the camera up on the roof, so I haven't had to mess with cameras, GPS, microphones, etc.

Alright so I did get a reply back from OEM Audio Plus:

So compatibility is no concern, but I may need to tweak the EQ after installation, no big deal. Just placed an order for one! Would love to hot spot it to my phone and use full Android apps that have no equal in Car Play on my iPhone, such as Radar maps in real time. Otherwise Car Play will probably be the go to so I can get messages etc.
