It's via bluetooth from your phone and the Entune app.

this has happened to me on my tundra and my wife on her Tacoma. do you use the oil change scheduler on the stereo? we figured out on mine that it would go black for a little while then come back on when it was close to being due for an oil change. I am talking about the scheduler that you can set yourself under maintenance on the stereo not the standard CEL one.

Good point about the scheduler... I actually had my schedule come on telling me to change my oil about 500 miles before 20K which is where I had it set to remind me... huh.... maybe that's it! And the screen started blacking out around the same time as the reminder.

My screens do it random but usually at startup when my oil is due. Once my oil is changed and the scheduler reset the problem is gone till its due again.

Odd point you make. I just for the first time began getting a alert to enter Dealer
info, never had it come up before, ever and it's been popping up the last few days,
pretty much as long as this has gone on. I'm going to enter the info tonight and
see if that and the update fixes it.

I deleted all reference to the dealer as soon as I left their lot...!! Placed my own reminders in there..... Never had the Black Screen thing..!

    LMAO!!

I have one more free oil change and I'll keep them in
there for warranty work after that.

The dealer has never touched my trucks after delivery unless I hAve to do a warrenty thing so no dealer info in mine. All I use is the scheduler to remind me what maintenance I need. I used to know the service manager at my dealer and I wouldn't trust him to put my gas cap on. I've had free oil changed on our last 4 trucks and I never used 1 of them.

I was about to post this. If you use the maintenance schedule, and just ignore the reminder, the screen will go blank. If you touch a button it will come back on. If you tell the scheduler the item is complete it will not go black anymore.

I had one of those 'all in one units' in an '86 300ZX-t, and in an '89 Reatta.

Sounds like the tech hasn't gotten much better.

Or worse, 'cause all my stuff worked. Including the digital dashes. And the cars were a number of years old at the time, not new.

But I was always concerned they'd fail, and no one would be able to repair them.

Grateful I have the budget radio
