Anyone ever had weird things happen while driving from the head unit such as randomly powering off? Today something different happened and my radio just muted itself for some reason. I’ve had my third gen as well as my second gen suffer from a random restart.

anyway was just curious if this ever happened to others.

Worst that happens to me is the Bluetooth connection is sometimes a hit or miss. Had this issue with other vehicles as well so I don’t see it as a huge issue. Easy remedy. Power down head unit. It then reconnects and everything seems to work.

I use iPhone. It’s not like this happens often so sorry if it was misleading. Was just curious if it ever happened to anyone else. It’s happened once on my new truck and I’ve only had it around 4-5 months and it muted itself once. In the 4-1/2 years of owning my second gen it probably happened about 2-3 times a year if I were to place a number on it.

I only asked because there are several iPhone 11 users having issues with BT and their HU rebooting, I can provide a link, but if you search "iPhone 11" here, it should pop up.

I’ll look into it in a minute. I have read the threads you’re referring to but didn’t think they were related really. Never had any connectivity issues with my phone ever. I’ve had an iPhone since iPhone 3 and never any issues at all besides busted glass from me dropping them or slamming them into a car door on accident as I got in :)

I have an android, on rare occasions when I try to make a phone call (and it's connected via bluetooth) the phone hesitates to make the call so I'll end the call and when I do the head unit shuts down and reboots. Happens rarely so doesn't bother me too much

Mine doesn’t do that the same way. Never has (seemingly) anything to do with the phone itself. However the amount of times it has rebooted since I’ve ever owned a Tacoma hasn’t bothered me much either. This post was just to see if anyone else experienced it since it was on my mind. Thanks

The self-muting gremlin has hit my HU this last week or so. Always listening to XM. Happened like 4 times yesterday. Firmware up to date according to Tony’s link. Has anyone found a cause or resolution?

Haven't had that. But I did have the GPS randomly not be able to find me one day on my way home. I knew where I was at so the only issue was the clock was off. I've also had it not be able to download weather data despite being in the same spot I normally get it no problem. Otherwise it has been pretty good.

I haven’t. Mines fully updated and still does it randomly. It’s not very often but it does still happen from time to time.

The GPS in my head unit stopped showing live traffic for me last Sunday. I parked the truck for 24 hours and noticed live traffic was still gone then five minutes of driving later it came back. Weird but I’m calling it a glitch.

I find it's usually fixed after the ol' turn it back off and on again... Most of the time

On damp days sometimes my Headunit will randomly spit out a CD if I have one in there. Also, If I have music paused or off and get a phone call, music starts automatically the moment the call ends. The second thing is really annoying. The CD thing is just odd.
