This looks so clean! I talked to a local shop about installing the 6600, but they’re in the dark about what dash kit/brackets to use. Do you happen to know which one?

I bought Sony AX6000 head from Trail Grid Pro. I could have gotten bigger screen but decided on smaller. Some models support multiple cameras. A bit spendy, but I wanted wireless CarPlay and this has it. I see lots of choices out there with several different brands and sources. Just read the reviews. Choose carefully. Spend the money and then don’t worry about it.

Nice I have kicker speakers too. But I got all my stuff from Crutchfield way before I knew Trail Gid existed.
Crutchfield of course is great too and I highly recommend but seems like Trail Grid has prices that seem pretty competitive with Crutchfield and they pre assemble things for you. That is a good time saver there. Crutchfield does that too but it's an extra service at additional cost.
So I think I'd give Trail Grid a go for sure.

I'd say with TrailGridPro your paying for the convenience of someone putting everything together for you (which I'm all for).

I've also used Crutchfield in the past, and consider those guys the gold standard. You may find the same parts cheaper elsewhere, but the technical assistance/knowledge base is top notch.

I like putting it together myself but to be honest for some having it done for you is better if you don't have the skill or time. On the plus side for trail grid I priced out similar units at both places and came up with trail being actually a little bit cheaper when you add in the pre wiring of harnesses that they can do with Crutchfield and trail even sets up the dash kit too. It comes ready to plug in and bolt in from what I understand from trail grid.

And yes I've found install kits cheaper on Amazon but you don't get any support or warranty there. So definitely I'd go with Trail Grid or Crutchfield. Saving a few dollars becomes pointless if run into an issue and then need to pay a shop to finish it when support could've helped you out.

My Sony head unit has smaller screen that sits flush for a more factory look but they sell some larger screens that do stick out. These manufacturers offer options that we can select for the look and feel we want.

Still tooling around with the settings, but seems like a nice setup so far.

That looks great! I love the big screen the only problem with that is where I live now I don't have a garage to park in and I'd be worried about that attracting attention of thieves in parking lots too.
I've had cars broken into in the past and I find if you keep it looking stock when you peer in the window you are less likely to be broken into

Another vote for the Pioneer DMH-WC6600NEX. Easily one of my top 3 mods on my Tacoma. The fit and finish look great and it retains all factory controls and settings. I picked up a used one locally for around $600. It has the ability for a second camera which I used for a front camera and an HDMI input which I installed an Apple TV for when I'm parked and waiting around. These two threads have a ton of info if you're interested.

This looks great and I'm looking to do something like this as well. I just have a question maybe you can answer. what do you loose as far as settings for he vehicle? Like with the stock head unit i can change truck lock and light settings. Is that lost with this upgrade? also I have the jbl unit with the stock amp and subwoofer, will this still work or is it lost?

As far as I remember, there aren't any settings that I don't have access to now, that I didn't have through the factory setup.

I bought my setup from Trail Grid Pro. They have packages that take care of all factory connectors, so, it's actually Plug, and Play, in order to retain steering wheel controls, etc.

I believe they have specific connectors to accommodate the JBL setup as well.

I put a 2021 stock unit with CarPlay in my 2016 and have no complaints. Got the harness from autohaus and it was super easy plug and play into my truck. Keeps the majority of the features that the original head unit had as far as vehicle settings goes and looks cleaner than some of the aftermarket options as it’s an OEM fit. I do wish I had spent a little more and got the version with navigation would as it would have been nice to keep my compass in the dash display working but I can’t complain as I just use CarPlay now.
