Headache Rack made to pull elk is it possible?

could u do one a couple inches tall?

 

yeah could it be just a piece of angle iron bolted on. how would u bolt it on besides the tie down cleats?

How you plan on mounting anything to the top of teh bedsides Ben ?

There's nothing there but tin foil and plastic .

I just found this.
I have come-a-longed many elk into this '98 Tacoma.Chain off bed hooks & from the lumber rack I rarely used any more. It just bolts thru to the bed rail, like the camper just clamps the edge.
OH...Almost every outfitter/guide in my area has a Warn winch attached to a headache rack for hauling elk & atv's.
I am in middle of refitting it for my F-150 for elk & wood hauling.
Just had to widen it 6" so far & building the cab screen/brace/winch mount. Adding gussets in corners of schd40 pipe it is made from & snatch block attach ring on back brace.I will be able to haul a bull into the bed & maybe even without ramps I use...

 

I like that this thread is finally getting somewhere. I gave this project serious thought awhile back. I decided that quartering the elk works for me. I've quartered them with hand saws, a cordless sawzall, and a chainsaw. It's quick and easy with power tools. And a guy can load quarters by himself.

 

I used to pack them out of the back country myself,but not too far anymore. I usually do the gutless method now too. But I have loaded the last 4 into a truck from where they lay...lucky.
This lumber rack with a winch will be very helpful around the ranch.
