Yeah thats the one ;)... Its been raining pretty good up here so I don't think it'll be completely dry by the time we get up there. We'll just have to take our time, ride nice and easy.

Will the trail still be open if its wet.I think they close most trails until they dry out.

Jason, I don't think we need to worry. Forest service roads are subject to seasonal winter closure, not specific closures based on individual storms.

I'll call again tomorrow to make sure. But I'm pretty sure they remain open for a set period of time, not necessarily on the fly.

Edit: Think you're referring to this: "The closure of the trails applies to Off-Highway Vehicles, Bicycles and Equestrians to prevent resource damage to the trails in wet condition. We allow 48 hours drying time in order to re-open."

It'll be dry the rest of the week but yeah, let me call tomorrow or Thursday at the latest and make sure its open. Last time he mentioned the actual camp sites are closed but they don't touch the jeep trail for a while.

    Food.

I'm not feeling up for doing a big dinner on Saturday night. But on Sunday morning if folks would like, I could do a big bacon "breakfast scramble" to share with everyone. That usually comes out pretty well as camping fare. Then we'd start the challenging climb out well fed and ready.

EDIT - sounds like folks are cooking on their own.

I'm cancelling now. I have this project I'm work on at work and it's not going to be done until mid november and I've been working a lot of overtime on it so I won't be able to get friday, unfortunately. But hey maybe I'll be able to finally lift my truck.

Just got off the phone with the Georgetown Ranger Station, he said the trail is OPEN and good to go for the weekend. No issues there but good to check again just to make sure.

My brother bailed on me, and then my gf decided its going to be too cold so its just going to be me. To make it easy I'll just go ahead and bring my own food, thanks though, Steve !
DRESS WARM everyone. Its getting real cold up here at night so bring plenty of stuff to sleep under.

Bummer. Sometimes work is just this black hole that sucks everything into it. It can be really satisfying depending on the project - but it's a bummer when it takes out other stuff you were hoping to do.

Nothing simpler than that. I'll just figure I'm only cooking for me then.

Really want to go. Worried about tire size(265s) and no winch.

I can't give you advice since I've not personally been on the trail before.

It'll help others to give you meaningful advice if you post up your armor situation...

    Skids? full/partial/none

    Rails/Sliders? yes/no

Profile pic makes it look like you've got a front bumper.

    Armored rear bumper? yes/no/high clearance?

    Locking rear differential? yes/no

No doubt. :( I worked a shit ton of overtime last month and it seems to be going that route this month too. Good news is more money for mods, bad news is, no time for fun. Really wish I could join you guys on this run.

Your call, but this picture is Bruce (quatrowikki) and he's pretty expert. It's possible there will be other lines not so hard on the rear-overhang. But it's also possible there won't be.

What do you think Brent, you've been there. I've just looked at pictures.

My memory isn't the best from that run - when we ran it then I hadn't even completed Slickrock. So what seemed insane then might be a gravel road now. I knows it's rough, but not impossible.

You're armored up really well, my only fear is your rear bumper. Those 2nd gens hang low in the rear but that's your call. I'd love to get as many people out as there as we can.

Theres a side spot before the first obstacle. When I went in my 2nd Gen I couldn't make it so I pulled off, shuffled gear into someone else's rig and became a spotter lol. So maybe come with and go as far as you're comfortable with? See if you can make the trail but if not I'll have room for gear/passenger.
