    Just the basics
Surpised no one has mentioned Nitecore. I have used Petzl Tactikka XP (four of them) for many years and was always pleased with the ease of use, especially with an easy red filter function. I was not pleased with the short run time and weight. After reading @DVexile views on the Nitecore NU25 ( https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...ing-gear-thread.340757/page-431#post-19318126 ) I picked up one, then another, and another as a gift. They are great. The soft flood is fantastic for in camp chores. I've recently started wearing it upside down around my neck and this allows me to have the light in front of me and also turn my head to speak with others without blinding them. It's a trick learned from my buddy who is a SWAT medic.

I have a Black Diamond, don't even know where it is now. I haven't used it since buying Zebra Lights. Simple. Light. Indestructible. The Kalashnikov of 18650 headlights. 18650 powered. One is 1300 lumen, two are 2000 lumen. All about the size of a roll of nickels. All have six light levels and variable strobe tactical mode. I added two additional light holders to the Zebra headband with the right-angle 1300 on my forehead, and the two straight 2000's on either side of my head over my ears. Because of the massive lumens when I turn it on it recoils like a gun. Okay, it doesn't kick, but they do cause an irreparable tear in the space/time continuum. I use this three-light headlight setup for running the boat across Sam Rayburn Reservoir at night and to load my boat on the trailer after dark. The Q-Beam and the robotic flood light on the front of the boat I don't even use anymore. Really, just the 1300 is all the light a man will ever need. You're going to need a QUALITY battery charger. I like the VC2SL, own the previous model of it: XTAR|Li-ion Battery Chargers|Dive Lights|18650 Batteries NEVER, EVER use the cheap 18650 battery chargers that come with electronic products. I know a man who died in a house fire: was charging his 18650's overnight for his radio-controlled airplane and set the house on fire. Don't charge any battery while you sleep.

Candle Power Forums There are flashlights on this forum that can burn the eyes out of the undead at 300 yards. Be forewarned, there are people on there who have 10,000+ posts, and whose lives revolve around flashlights and that forum. Sad...

Tight little clique, and, FWIW, they don't tolerate outsiders who won't quickly adopt and use the acronyms they made up to communicate.

(Thankfully, I'm not one of them. It's just a fuckin' flashlight BITCH!)
