Hey guys, this is my first post on here, been following awhile! I’m currently going through my 2nd gen fixing up all the issues the previous owner neglected and I’m basically down to the headlight fillers. I have those in my possession but noticed no clips on the truck. I’ve already ordered part # 52531-04010 but I think I need 2 other clips? Does anybody know if each side takes 3 different clips? Any info or feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!

The headlight fillers on your Gen 2.5 slide onto those tabs on the outboard sides, and a green panel clip on the back of the filler pokes into that squarish hole to fix it in place.

If you have those green clips on the back of your fillers, you should be good to go.

So the only clip I don’t have is the “52523A”. When I search that part online a completely different looking part comes up. Any idea where to find one?

The part number for the black plastic inserts on the outboard end of the fillers is 53935-04020. (The number in that that diagram isn't a P/N -- just some sort of schematic reference in Toyotaworld.

Here they are on the fillers from my truck (currently off as I replace my headlamps).

By chance do you know what goes into this opening? I see on the backside of the filler there is a little tab. I seem to be missing the clip or piece that goes into the truck. Thanks!

In fact, that post molded into the filler lines up with that square hole in the bumper cover, presumably to maintain alignment.

The green clip fits into a sturdy black plastic "L" bracket screwed to the sheet metal support under the bumper cover. That "L" bracket has a round hole that accepts the green clip to hold the filler in place. There are two, of course, one on each side for each filler.

You can see that black plastic "L" bracket in this photo of my bumper cover (which has been cut down to fit my ARB bullbar. Note that it's just visible adjacent to the square opening. The bracket ("retainer" in Toyotaworld) is p/n 52531-04010, and it's attached with screw 90159-A0029 into nylon insert 90189-05142.

It looks from you first post that you might be missing this retainer bracket.

Better views of the filler retainer bracket, on my truck without the bumper cover in place.

Do you know if I have to remove the front bumper to install these new clips? I’m going to be tackling this in a few days and just trying to get an idea. Looks like I might have to. Would prefer not have to remove the whole bumper to install 2 new clips haha

Dunno. Take a look up under the bumper cover and see if you can get access to the holes where the bracket goes.

If you do have to remove the bumper cover, it's really not that hard. Looks more complicated than it is.
