I finally purchased my first Tacoma, a 2024 Solar Octane TRD Off-Road AT, and I love the truck.

My only gripe however, and I found this out the hard way, is that snow and ice can build up on the headlights so badly that the lights no longer produce enough light. My wife and I were driving on I-15 this winter and ran into whiteout conditions and there was enough traffic on the road that stopping would have been too dangerous. I tried the wax hack I read about (yeah, it didn't even pretend to work) and when I was finally able to pull into a truck stop, I had nearly two inches of snow and ice caked on the front of my truck. You could see a slight glow from the headlights, but that was all. I was able to take both hands and pull the entire sheet of snow and ice from the front of the truck in one piece.

What I would like to know if there is some sort of a heating system or replacement headlight assembly that I can buy so that I don't have to worry about this problem.

Airline attempted to convert landing lights to LED for reliability (less maint = less $$$$). Had to convert back to incandescent due to the lack of heat from the LEDs allowing ice build up. Was wondering if & when that was going to happen to someone who swapped out their headlights for LED.

We use LED on every new Airbus and convert the old ones as time goes on. Never seen one converted back

I found for me that a good coat of wax on the headlights keeps snow and ice from building up and blocking out light output.

They must have figured it out since. No NEOs ship with any incandescent/halogen lighting
