Your just wanting to know which bulbs or the brand of the actual housing to use?

For bulbs I've always had pretty good luck with PIAA lasting a long time. The Silver Star Ultras look good too but for me usually don't last much longer than a year.

Picked up a set of complete assembly's for my 99 from these guys on fleabay. Had one housing that accidentally had the side turn signal mount snapped off,,laying in the bottom of the box. A quick phone call and a email picture in the morning and a new housing was on its way with Fedex overnight.

A couple months now on the supplied Halo bulbs that came with my new pieces. Sure is nice to be able to see again. Kept the original yellowed lenses/ housings,,with the 1999 factory bulbs that have never burned out.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
I recently put in sylvania zxe bulbs, they are the brightest ones they have and give off a nice white light. Visibility is lightyears better than standard halogens. They are a bit pricey, but if you don't want to spend the money converting to HID's or LED's, I'd go with zxe bulbs. The glass on them is blue, but they don't look blue or give off more than a small tint of blue, they are bright white. I've never been able to see so good driving at night until now.

You will need 9003's for your Tacoma, 5 minutes to install.

Do you need a housing? Or new bulbs?

As for housings, the absolute best quality aftermarket option are the DEPO headlights. They're awesome.

As for bulbs, I've heard mixed reviews but when I ran halogen I always use Silverstars. Just make sure to clean them with alcohol and after doing so, don't touch the glass with your fingers. This is extremely important.

also a little mentioned detail if you never bought lights before is the new lights come with light bulbs already installed in them, at least all the ones I bought did. so don't buy bulbs for it until you see what the ones you get look like.

9 out of 10 the regular bulbs make you happy with the light you get once you have clean clear lenses with the new lights.

take off the headlights from the truck and try a headlight restore kit, it basically sands down the grime and light scuffs then polishes it back to a smooth surface.

I replaced my housings with oem because of the aftermarket ones I tried the light was all over the place and the fitment had issues.

it drives me frickin nuts they don't make glass lenses anymore, they stopped because NTSHA decided it was a safety hazard in an accident. who can ever get cut or hurt by a broken glass headlight lens? really!

if a company would sell glass lens replacement headlights for vehicles I would pay $200 each for them just so I don't have dull dim plastic crap lenses on my vehicles.
    rant over

Since I replaced mine like 2 years ago I wax them 3-4 times a year and they still look near new with just minor small pits from use. no hazing though

I just get mad because they invented a problem when they went to all plastic headlights when there was no need to go there.

I never touch my truck, its a truck so it only gets wet when it rains and if its muddy I drive in the rain to wash it off lol. its a truck not a Cadillac so im not one to wash and wax and all that so I keep the inside clean and taken care off but the outside is up to the weather to keep it clean. I don't properly take care of exterior things like that so my lights get dull after about 6 years and I have to buy new ones on everything I own.

I know its mostly my own fault for not keeping them up but why should I have to when glass is forever?

Glass pits and can get damaged as well.

Just convert your front end to the tacoma years of 95.5-97 then. that uses rectangle glass headlights.

hmmm, hadn't even thought of that? how different is the 97 front end look?

I never had a problem with glass pitting or getting etched and other than a crack from rocks they don't have any negatives.

    Hi Ed,
    Thank you for your inquiry.
Based on your requirements, my recommendation for your 04 Tacoma is the Osram Rallye 64205 lamp (https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=Osram+Rallye+64205). Brightest with good life and no upgraded wiring or relays needed. Should you plan on upgraded wiring and relays, the 64206 lamp would be even brighter, but only has a moderate life hour rating.

    Best regards,
    Kenny Franklin
