The headlights in our rig are in not great shape and I was thinking of replacing them if I couldn't clean them up enough to look good. It's for the 2006.
My question is are the ones you find online like here, https://realtruck.com/p/spec-d-chrome-crystal-headlights/v/toyota/tacoma/2006/ worth the money and how do they compare to the stock ones.
I'm just looking to replace with stock type unless a projector style is highly recommended on here.
    Projector style. https://realtruck.com/p/spec-d-chrome-halo-projector-headlights/v/toyota/tacoma/2006/
    Thanks

    HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE

Capa certified aftermarket lights aren't too far off oem quality. considering its an older truck I wouldn't fork out the cash for a set of oems.
if you really want projectors I wouldn't buy any of these cheap prebuilts, lots of threads about them having issues.

If you have the time. Sand down with 800, then 1200 then 2000. Then polish and clear coat with automotive clear and your good to go. Maintain like your paint.

Kinda what I had in mind. I was going to see how good I could get them before deciding what to do.
    Hopefully they clean up fine.
    Thanks

Start with 3000 grit and water, wipe with micro fiber, then go to salt and pepper polishing pad and leveling compound aka pure cut wipe again repeat polish if necessary and leave as is for easy re- polishing as required or finish with ceramic coating. Better yet buff and ceramic coat the whole truck while your there.

    Too few to list.
New OEM would cost an arm and a leg and since you have the old style 2nd Gen headlights it would be hard to find a good used replacement. I believe TYC brand are CAPA certified and not too pricey.

Save yourself a little cash and buy a headlight restore kit. I had excellent results.IMG_20190907_105944589_HDR.jpg

I considered that but the inside of the lens is also bad. Any way to clean that part?

There is not.much that can be done other than heating up the headlights and taking them apart to clean the inside.

I know two people that bought these particular headlights. Both had water intrusion issues within a year or two. Both had crap light patterns. (One wasn't really aware if it until we parked his truck beside mine.) But both said "Oh well, what do you expect for that price. I guess it's a matter of expectations.

Don’t buy any BS aftermarket headlights like I did. I bought some from Tacomabeast (aka Spyder). Got so hot the diode cracked and wire burnt. Could have burned my truck down. Plus the light output was horrendous. Switching back to OEM until I have time to retrofit

Maybe I got lucky but I bought some cheap Depo headlights off of Amazon for $90 3-4 years ago and they look great with no leaks. My only complaint is some weirdness when using the high beams.

I don't know your overall budget. But you could get the DEPO or other brands and do a retrofit. Ebay headlights are less than $100 a pair and you can get a retrofit kit for as little as $135. Boom! for less than $250 you have new headlights, better output and they look cool!

Checkout Headlight Junkies on facebook for some good ideas. There are also great ideas on this page, but on the facebook page you can find other ideas as well.

There are many projector options that you can choose. But the kit listed below I have in my beater subaru outback and it's really good for the price. If you wanted a better projector go to a projector that uses a D2S bulb. That will be more expensive ($250+ for a kit), but there are ways to do it on a budget as well.

I purchased a set of Spec D (Spyder) headlights, you can sort of see them in the avatar, and they are complete JUNK! Within one year they have hazed and appear to have a film on them that is cracking from UV light...

I'm searching now for a quality replacement, non OEM looking... suggestions please!
