Tacomabeast ones? I like those but some have been reporting iffy results. Most people have been fine with them though I think. https://tacomabeast.com/products/05-11-toyota-tacoma-projector-headlights-light-bar-drl-version-2

My stock ones are pretty badly melted from the drl but I can't find a good replacement. My current ones need to go asap. They're starting to eat the outside lens somehow. I don't want to lose the stock projection pattern either, my 2010 with fogs on has the best lowbeam I have ever had. High beam is meh though.

I did not purchase through TacomaBeast, but I see on that site the same ones i've purchased that are Spyder (Spec D) and i'm skeptical of the ones you link above because they look so similar.... and as i've stated the Spyder (Spec D) SUCK.....

Cheapest oem style light on eBay like 68$ a set. Then I retrofitted eBay projectors into them. Along with painting everything inside. Cut off on the projectors is pretty good considering this was my first retro.

I built them a few months back. I took my time on them and spent a few weeks painting and mounting everything inside. They leaked moisture once so I opened them back up and sealed them again.

This is about the best way to do this if you want a custom setup. I've got RX350 projectors in mine and it's quite a big improvement, especially the high beams! Otherwise if you don't plan on a retrofit OEM headlights are the best to get.

Can you link to the ebay projectors you got? I already have new aftermarket housings.
Also just how is the retrofit done? Are there any tutorials?
    thanks

I installed Morimoto. Personally, I love them. The look. The functions. They were absolutley a frivolous purchase and too high priced, so they maybe arent for everyone. Which is another reason I love them; I wont see them everywhere. Lol

I agree with the retrofit guys.....I’m a little partial though as all 4 of my vehicles have a retrofit. If you can splurge for a D2S projector I would go that route. Better output, higher quality bulb options, generally more reliable (though I haven’t had any issues with my H1 setup) and less bulb alignment issues. But they are more expensive. Buy once, cry once.

This is my beater 01 Subaru with an ACME H1 projector kit from the retrofit source. $130ish for projectors, shrouds, bulbs, harness and ballasts. I have used the Amazon projector which is decent too, but then you need to order the rest of the components separately.

This wall is about 80-100ft away.

    LOW BEAM

    HIGH BEAM

I just got done with my Tacoma but haven’t gotten any output shots of it yet. But it’s amazing! RX350 projectors, clear lens swap, Osram NB Laser bulbs, turbine shrouds, profile halos and hella gen 3 ballasts.

Theres alot of tutorials on youtube from retrofit solutions/the retrofit source. Simply use a heatgun to break the sealant on the housing or put it in the oven @ 200* for a few minutes.

Crack open housings, drill small hole to run wiring for bixenon solenoid and run retrofit wires through, install retrofit inside existing low beam (it secures with a large nut on the back of the housing), rotate it as close to level as you can, reseal headlight.

Then you will rotate the projector from the back with the headlight installed to ensure it is level. Screw down large nut all the way. Install HID kit, adjust beams with the two philips turn screws and you are set. It took me about 2 hours to do this. It was my 7-8 retrofit thus far.

So I am a noob when it comes to headlights. I have some halogen projector headlights with an LED bar. Can I just swap out the halogen projector with an LED projector and call it a day? How much would a LED projector and bulbs run? I see everyone that does retros use HIDS.

I would HIGHLY recommend a projector with a threaded shaft! OEM projectors are nice, but a threaded shaft makes things SOOO much easier!

Take a look at theretrofitsource.com, lightwerkz.net and sparksmith.com. All good vendors. If you join Headlight Junkies on facebook, TRS has a 10% code and there are TONS of good advice and ideas. I believe there are some vendors on here too that will sell components only if you like.

The new G5-BRT is a great projector that rivals many OEM projectors. https://www.lightwerkz.net/index.ph...niversal-kit/bi-xenon-g5-r-parts-package.html

Otherwise the NHK H1 (ACME is the same to my knowledge) is a great budget setup! https://www.lightwerkz.net/index.ph...ts/universal-kit/bi-xenon-h1-starter-kit.html

Depends on the brand of the housing for what will line up. Most of the spyder/anzo headlights use a 2.5" projector and most LED projectors are 3". You can get adapter brackets to adapt an H1 projector into the aftermarket projector housing.

    https://custom-brackets-designs.mys...oducts/spyder-mini-h1-retrofit-7-0-c-brackets

The reason people stick with HID is because it is simply brighter than LED (at least current technology). They also have far better throw of light than LED. Another strong factor is that parts are replaceable. On an LED projector if a driver or LED goes bad, you're SOL.

If you don’t go the projector route, definitely attempt to use oem. I keep mine polished with chemical guys products. 100k miles and still look new.. although after a run in with a deer a local body shop replaced one with a capa and the turn signal lense melted to the point that I could not remove the bulb. I ended up sourcing a used oem housing.
