I’ve watched several YouTube videos of headlight swaps but still have one question. Isn’t there a strip of double sided tape on the fender flare that has to be pulled away from the truck. I see the flare has to be pulled up at the front but none of the videos mention the double sided tape and I can’t see it well enough to know if it’s there.

Yes there is tape. The blue and orange clips provide the primary means of retention though. Once the clips disengage you have to pull on the flare against the tape adhesion until you get enough room to pop off the bumper cover. There is also going to be a lot of dirt underneath the flare, so check your OCD before starting the job. :)

Did you have any problems getting the tape to stick again or does it even matter since there are clips holding it?

The tape won't stick again but won't matter because there are clips holding the flare. Have extra clips handy because you'll probably break a couple, P/Ns 90904-67036 and 90904-67037. I bought one bag of each for cheap on Amazon. Beware the aftermarket clips may be colored differently (e.g. orange factory clips may be blue aftermarket, and vice versa).

Imo you don’t need to pull the flare that far from the fender that high up to cause the 3m to pull off. Basically just lift it off the fender enough to get access but not past the 3m tape

the guide bracket is the biggest trouble. If you remove every tab/clip in order you won’t break it or a piece of it. I believe you push the red pin from the back first then the 3 tabs from the front

Makes me glad that the base model SR doesn’t come with fender flares. Makes installs super easy.

I like the sound of that better. Anyone else able to remove them without disturbing the 3M tape?

Don't see why you're concerned about a piece of foam tape. :D I took the angle grinder to my truck when it had less than 5000 miles. Young, old, white, black, Asian, American, Mexican... all squeal the same when you cut them :notsure:
