    Reflectors of any kind are AL PVD coated. They put it in a container and heat a strip of aluminum. It vaporizes and coats the plastic to be shiny. It is more reflective than chrome plating metal.
    It is common for that AL PVD coating to burn off of projector reflector bowls on HID's after 10 years.
    Maybe to a bit lesser degree on halogen, since HID's are much more compact and closer to the hot parts of an HID bulb always on.
