Headlights acting strange.

The DRLs work fine, both on when low beams are off. One the low beams are on the passenger side DRL is off. Anyone know why this is happening? Thanks.

 

More info needed.. Like what brand are they? Did you contact them?

 

I got them from protuning lab, and they are Spyder brand.

Maybe an optical illusion but is there an issue with your front alignment? The passenger wheel looks way more toed out than the drivers side

 

Aren't DRLs supposed to be off when the lights are on?

 

Aftermarket headlights are notorious for “acting strange” even the most expensive Morimoto’s have issues….

There have been a few recent sales for OEM LED headlights. They perform exceptionally well. Outside of cost, they are the clear best option.

Some like the higher output of the morimoto xb v2 and the option for amber DRL, but if you’re having trouble with build quality, that’s exactly what OEM is meant to solve.

I don’t believe @crashnburn80 has tested these but he has tested many others and they aren’t as good at the purpose they should be serving (illumination at distance). Given that we have an OEM option, that it tests well, and that the price has dropped a little with recent parts sales, it might not be bad timing.

 

OEMs stay on but dim a little I believe. I need to verify the dimming part though unless someone else knows for sure.

 

I used to have those headlights. Those Spyder headlights are the worst headlights ever made. I upgraded to the Morimoto headlights and I haven't had a problem since

Was asking as I have no idea. My DRLs are a switch selection option, and go out when the headlights are turned on.

Which seems logical, as a DRL is for use when headlights are not needed to see, to allow others to hopefully see you.

 

It's probably just an illusion with the angle of the camera. I took this picture the other day - looks like my left front is significantly different than the right but my alignment is fine. Just the angle of the picture.

 

Parking light on the OEM is dimmer than full bright DRL. The DRL signal turns off when the low beams turn on. Hard to photograph though.

 

Spyder is notorious for very low quality poor performing headlights. I wouldn’t bother testing them.

 

Where can I find your lights? And do you ship overseas?

 

You would purchase Toyota OEM LED headlights from a Toyota dealer. There are many who sell online. I’m not sure if any ship to your location but some have leveraged a domestic friend to re-pack and send. If doing that I suggest a complete re-pack as the Toyota packing job is insufficient even for domestic shipping.

 

ohhh I still have my old oem headlights. I think I’m just going to switch back to them. I love them just wish they were blacked out.

 

I’m so confused. When I pull this fuse out, the DRL comes back on but the headlight turns off. Put the fuse back in the DRL turns off headlight back on.
