7FBB512E-DCA9-4E9B-B3C5-952646DFF09A.jpg So I picked up a 2021 OR and I am thinking maybe my headlights are not adjusted correctly? I get a lot of people flashing me with brights and I don’t think the lights are dim at all. Here is a quick picture I took. Looks like the top of the light line is just below the mirrors on cars.

SSO hybrid bumper, Warn winch, RCI skid trilogy, RRW sliders, everything in the cheap/free mods thread, and of course the frame recall work.
Drive faster - the light will be farther away quicker that way.

So from what i understand the trade off with the H9 is significantly reduced life compared to the H11. Like 250 hours on the H9 and 1000 hours on the H11. However the H9 is like 2100 lumins and the H11 is 1200 lumins.

Incorrect. The entire theory of relativity is based off the fact that the speed of light is not affected by the speed of the emission source. It won’t “add” to your speed as you are moving faster or slow down , if you’re going backwards (independent of the inertial frame of reference you are in). The faster u drive the LESS distance your lights will cover ..

The only thing that will happen if u driver faster is the color will change (blue shift , Doppler effect) to other observers

I agree that the stock low beam headlights are crap! And High beam are like most low beam apparently. Thanks to mice I had a low beam out and unfortunately had to drive at night. I had my high beams on, forgot to dim with oncoming traffic, and not one vehicle flashed their lights at me.... not one.... So As an experiment, I just left the high beams on for the remainder of my drive home. I live in a rural location, so it’s pretty dark. Again, any vehicles that came at me, no one flashed their lights.... I was shocked.... Going to upgrade with H9’s soon.

I have a suspicion in the coming years this is going to come under fire. Simply that we understand that gravity bends light and it can be slowed down underwater.

Just a simple question..... How far do you need the headlights to shine?

There are very powerful lights that you could use. For instance, the landing lights on a airliner. Doubt if these would be allowed on the street.

In truth, you don't need "daylight illumination". Most road signs will reflect long before you can read them. The brightness and adjustment of the headlights is mandated by the FVMSS. It is easy to illuminate an object at 200'+. Driving at 60 mph, you cover 88 ft/sec. Normal human reaction and response time is roughly 0.3-0.4 seconds. In that time, the distance traveled is 26-35 feet. Leaving about 130+ feet to execute an evasive maneuver. All bets are off, if your dinking about with cell phone, HU....distracted.

If you have a tendency to drive fast, you can "overdrive" your headlights. Meaning, you don't have enough distance/time to recognize/react to a situation.

IMHO, the best safety feature that needs to be added is an infrared HUD display which becomes active with the headlights. This system would help alert to creatures entering the road from the side. People, kids, dogs, cats, deer, moose, raccoons..... cars, trucks, motorcycles, bicycles.......

Fun fact, that is where the original KC Daylighters came from, aircraft landing lights. And no they are not street legal.

Cancelled the order and went the Philips H9 bulb route to try instead. Started to think that if it's this difficult to find bulbs to purchase in the first place, it would be equally as difficult when they need replacing.

And I had to look up what Fred Meyer was. Never seen one of those. We have Kroger where I'm at.

I'd go with the Philips H9 myself for higher output. The bulbs are only difficult to find at the moment due to being rebranded after Tungsram bought out GE Lighting, I'd expect them to be more readily available in the future. Fred Meyer is more a competitor to Target stores that sell groceries and big box items, similar to a smaller Walmart.

Gotcha. I would still like to try them at some point. I got the Philips H9 made in Germany. Just put them in today.

Only if you get on this forum. I didn’t know I was driving a piece of shit until I got here. Prior to that I was really happy and thought it a great truck. Thanks TW for letting me know not to trust what I actually experience vs. what I read on a forum. . .

Gravity doesn't bend light. Light travels at varying speeds through all mediums.

Going to try it the DD HID kit this weekend. If it satisfies, I'll change to the Phillips bulbs eventually. I miss my Gen2 reflector lamps, though.

I got ddm hid bulbs in my 2018, they work very well. Combined with OEM led fog lights it all looks stock and I can see pretty far.
