CAPA parts do go through an initial certification process. There is a limited number of manufacturers that receive this certification. The insurance companies would rather have these parts put on rather than junk from manufactures like Dorman.

The old melting DRL part numbers now supersede the new part numbers because there are no more updated new part numbers available. The TSB was from 11 years ago, when they released the new updated parts to replace the old defective parts. It isn't uncommon to have superseded part numbers where per Toyota a part is replaced with typically an updated part. In this case though, it is superseded by an older part because it is the only part available.

Most Toyota dealer sites will tell you that there is a superseded or replaced part number. Example, searching part number 81110-04210 on a Toyota site pulls up 81110-04173 with a note that it replaces 81110-04210. Hopefully once the old parts are depleted they'll do another production run of the updated headlights.

You might edit your original post and add a comment in case people don’t make it to page 2 of the thread.

This is a valuable thread. I’ve sanded and polished my headlights so many times that they are like paper thin.

If all you can get is the old lights, get an LED upgrade kit for the turn signal bulb. Comes with everything you need, including resistors.
