Headlights (HELP WITH WIRING) 2015 Inferno TRD Pro

View drawing on post#12...slowly. The added relay is providing the 12V+ DC the headlights require. It's actuated by the DRL wire on the vehicle. No need to add another relay to "change" the feed.

 

I have alpharex headlights. The way the DRL works is that it is connected to a +12v ign source and does not connect to the OEM DRL/Turn signal harness any longer. The only way to get this working that the OP wants is to tap it back into the OEM DRL/turn signal harness and that would require a conversion since, as you said, the DRL wire is a negative output.

So I tested the lights and alpharex harness. From what I could tell, the alphrex drl's wire is also the same wire for the turn signal. We would need to use a harness that isolates that wire and run it to a relay and tap the drl negative trigger wire to connect to the relay. Looking at it in reverse: You would need to run the drl negative wire tap into the engine bay to the relay, then from the relay to the isolated drl harness. It would be more practical, cost wise, to use a wire tap instead of buying a male/female harness for the drl negative wire. Weather permitting this weekend, I can try it to see if it will work.

That being said, turning on the low beams will shut off the oem drl circuit, so you would lose the drl any time your headlights are on... I didn't check to see if the headlight also provides power to the drl because I know they dim when the headlight is switched on. It could provide reduced power to the drl or it might do some kind of switching so the drl circuit runs through a resistor that lowers the voltage going to the drl. We could add in a second relay circuit that triggers when the headlight comes on, but the drl would be at full brightness instead of the dimmed light.

 

Ok great! Im good with the DRL being on full brightness all the time. I always run the amber DRL's on 24/7 anyways. Plus I have the fog light anytime mod so it gives it a unique look

 

The low beam select input is what dims the OEM DRL. You'll need to remove the module and create a "new" one.

 

This is a no-go. The same module also prevents the hyperflash. Removing only the wire for the DRL also removes the load needed to prevent the hyperflash. I spent a few bucks on harnesses and stuff already. I'm not really going to dive into resolving the hyperflash issue when I personally don't mind the DRL's being on all the time. Sorry.
