Canada DRL is required by law and cannot be disabled.

Toyota Techstream can turn them completly off as it's the same software dealerships use to interact with vehicles. Hell, I used it to turn off the seat belt alarm in my 2017 and that's required by law too. But unless you get ahold of a cracked copy (some people here on TW have safe links to download from) you are gonna have to pay for a subscription and you also need a certain OBDII cable to plug into your laptop. Software and cable is sold as a package on Amazon. But if you have annual vehicle inspections you might get dinged if someone notices its not on.

This is pretty common in cars these days. I’m pretty sure it’s a new regulation. The drive in near me has covers they put over your headlights if you don’t have the option to turn them off.

Also, I think a lot of time if you are in park and put your parking brake on, then the lights go off.

I had the same problem when I was at a drive-in movie. The solution I found was putting the truck in Neutral, and then turning off the truck. I was able to listen to the radio and both my headlights and tail lights turned off.

This worked for my 2021 OR Premium Tacoma.

    Edit: Don't forget the E-brake!

    Hope this helps.

On my Canadian 2020 I fixed this "problem" by disconnecting the light sensor on passenger side, transforming the Auto button to Off/On switch. No more Auto headlight option.
