2012 Tacoma headlights have been replaced 4 times in 4 years. Is anyone else having this problem? Also Track lock system failed and slowed speed to 20 mph on slight hill. Took it to dealer they replaced pump/pipe/gasket to tune of $1935 but it was covered under 100K mile warranty. Truck has 88K on odometer. Dealer said this was a first for them on a Tacoma but not on the Tundra. Still loving the Taco

Do you mean you've had the headlight bulb replaced? You didn't really mentioned why it has been replaced 4 times. What Track Lock is this you speak of, and what pump/pipe/gasket? Need more info, I also own a 2012 Taco...she's been real good to me, no issues whatsoever, nothing has needed to been replaced. Though I do have a few mods, she has 66K mi on the Odometer. Just been doing routine maintenance all is well. So elaborate more to help, and point you in the right direction for help.

Sorry I was vague but yes it was the bulbs and I have been using the high $ Sylvania bulbs. The pump is the one that limits tire spin by cutting back power to the wheel that is spinning. When the pump went it confused the rest of the computers and cut speed as you approached an increase in hill rise. No other issues with the Tacoma and just regular maintenance.

That is expected with those silverstar type bulbs. If you want long life buy the long life halogens, though they will produce less light. This article explains why your bulbs don't last, complete with lumen output vs life at the bottom.

Note Sylvania silverstars and Osram silverstars are not the same.

Thanks for the info! Who knew? Not me I'm an old truck nut that didn't know about the new stuff and life span of a headlight. Thanks a lot for educating the old guy. Shoot a good set of T-3's will last for years and years and years!
