So I've been having this problem intermittently in my 03 taco where my head lights won't shut off. But now they're on steady. No daytime running light and no alarms or remote starts. I've replaced the headlight relay and the combination switch to no avail. From what I can tell the relay stays energized all the time and then is grounded when you turn on the switch. The only equipment left in the circuit is a body ecu. What are the chances of that capping out? Or should I be looking for a short to ground somewhere?

my guess is a shorted wire somewhere doing it. don't assume the worst just yet and I sincerely doubt the ECM is the problem

Well I spent quite a bit of time testing and following wires. There is a red and white striped wire that goes through the fire wall to the switch. If I ground the r/w wire the lights come on and stay on. But only if I hold the ground wire to it. Does anyone know if there's another relay or other equip on the circuit that could be between the relay and the switch?

    Have you found the problem?

I have a similar situation. I can park the truck and in a couple hours the lights will come on. If I start the truck controls seem to operate properly. If the engine is running and I turn the lights, they will go off. When I turn the key off the lights will come on. ?.?. After fiddling around around for a while they will go off. They may work properly for months and then repeat the process.

    I have an 02 Tacoma.

Actually I did. The windshield had been leaking on the drivers side directly above the fuse box/integration relay. So needless yo say it was all corroded and green in the relay.

Where was that relay? I didn't see a relay in the driver's side fuse panel.

It's not a regular relay that you'd normally find. it's the whole fuse box under the dash on the drivers side. it has a circuit board inside the controls a whole slew of things ranging from door chimes, keyless entry and more. I'll try to upload a picture. it's crappy because I just screen shoted it. if you can read the website on the pic, that's where I bought mine. if you go to the stealership the cost several hundred dollars.Screenshot_2015-07-30-20-37-15.jpg

I'll take a look at mine this weekend. Do my issues consistent with yours?

    How much did it cost?

    Thanks

they're close. butyou issues on really happened when it rained. if you haven't already checked the head light relay under the hood and the switch I may start with those as they're quite a bit cheaper and readily available. also there have been numerous threads about problems with daytime running lights. I don't have them on my truck though. it ended up being $100.00. wasn't too bad. if I remember correctly it was close to $400.00 from the dealer.
