Can you change the bulb to led without changing the headlight cover? I seen halogen replacement leds for $40 and just leds for $100.
Will you get better light replacing them in the same housing? 2023 sr 4x4

Generally speaking, no. Best solutions are vehicle year specific, which you don't indicate in your profile.

Threads by @crashnburn80 for both 2nd and 3rd gen will point you in the right direction, assuming you're actually interested in usable light.

    Pro tip.

New members forum is for introductions. Q's like you have (for example) would be better placed in the lighting forum or in the forum for the generation of your truck.

As I understand things, and it becomes obvious when you look at them, halogen bulbs push light out in all directions to the entire "reflector" surface. LED bulbs cannot duplicate that, even when the designers try very hard ... there are always "blank spots" in pushing light to the reflector surface making less than desirable light output.

I run HIDs in my 4runner pro which are fantastic, I don't own a turd gen so not sure if that's an option. If so I highly recommend them.
