I know this horse has bean beaten 1000 times but maybe there's something I don't know. I'm tired of the the headlights oxidizing (getting dull) and as far as I know, there's no glass ones and I don't really feel like paying 200.00 a piece or so for the Toy ones. Are there any good aftermarket ones that are less expensive and hopefully as good or better than the OEM ones? The brightness of the stock bulbs are OK for my purposes.
    Thanks Ken 2004 Tacoma.

I got 15 years out of the ones on my 07 before they got so bad I had to replace them. It was a hard pill to swallow, but I went back to factory. Toyota wanted $750 for a set for my truck. Aftermarket would have been $250-$300 but I got so many negative reviews that I had a hard time with those.

One of my wife's brothers owns a local body shop and on a whim, I asked him to inquire about buying a set. The same headlight assemblies Toyota wanted me to pay $750 for were delivered to his shop for $550. Literally the same boxes from the same dealer. I paid him the $550 and installed them.

To be honest I wouldn't have paid $750. I'd have taken my chances on aftermarket. They wouldn't last as long, but at 1/3 the price I could afford to replace them sooner. But for $550 I did it. If you know someone with a commercial account you may be able to get them to get them for you at a reduced price too.

Applying a ceramic coating to your headlights will prevent oxidizing.

I've restored many headlights in the past to new but it requires a bit of work and spraying a high quality clear coat that has isocyanates in it. A respirator is an absolute must but a fresh air sysem is evem better. It will last as long as the clearcoat on automotive paint. You need to sand going up from 600 grit to 1500 in stages and then spraying the clear then sanding again with 2000 or higher then polishing.

There are ‘professional’ HL restore vendors

$1500 BMW HL had a dent on edge of plastic lens…customer hit their garage door….the roller track (huge L shaped track) the HL was not cracked but had 3mm dent and scratches on lens
    $125 + 25% mark up for shop
