    Hi,
I have the thread on removing the headliner. Mine is all smokey smell and want to replace it. There is one in a U-Pull, but before I go nuts doing that, can I get the headliner out of an extended cab without taking either the windshield or the rear window out? My friendly body shop guy suggested I check on that first. He said maybe but wasn't absolutely sure.
Thanks, I need to get it, if I'm going to, soon before the weather closes in much more.
    Thanks all,
    Mike

OOOPS - Mine is an '03, extended cab, no sunroof, no map light. The removal looks easy, it is the "Can I get this out in one piece" part.
    Thanks,
    Mike

The weather may be good enough tomorrow to give it a try. I'll post my results if I get there.

    Hi,
I got the headliner out of the donor Tacoma today. The donor is an '01 extended cab. Mine is an '03 Extended cab. Neither with sunroof.
Now, read carefully - the doors were gone already, I had taken out the front seats. Following the directions I got on this forum, it took 35 chilly minutes to pop it out. If you go to do it, search the forum, the directions are for an '03. The only difference I can see between that and an '01 is in step 4. I did not see any screws around the scuff plate. The seat bolts are 12 mm, the seat belt bolts are 14 mm. I fortunately had left the 1/2" 14 mm in the tool box because I only had a 12 and 13 mm with me. Everything came out fairly easily. This cab was on the ground, literally no frame, which made things interesting. Once you take the sun visors out and give a little tug, it pops out. Fit through the door opening with a little folding, but no harm to the headliner done. Many, many years ago I bought a Snap On trim remover tool. Every time I use it I am very thankful.
Now I have a clean, non stinky headliner and sunvisore. The headliner was $20, each sunvisor was $15, so $50 with some labor and done!
Any questions, please let me know.
    Mike

Hi Melk. Glad to hear you got it out. Nice score on even finding a Taco in a wrecking yard!!

I kept trying to catch my son the last day or two and ask how his removed - he has a '99 extended cab. Just caught up with him this evening and his recall is he had both the front seats and center console out when he pulled the headliner. Like yours, it came out with the slightest bending but no creasing.
