So I found out yesterday that for a vehicle to be certified used vehicle through Toyota they only check recalls. They do not check TSB's to see if the vehicle has an issue. if I would of know about TSB's when I first bought my truck I wouldn't be in the situation i'm in now with possibly having to pay them for the install of new driveshaft.

Well yeah that makes sense because even with new vehicles they only fix TSB issues upon request from the customer.

I think a vehical/vin number has to have a customer complaint/issue then they check if there's a tsb related to it. I could be wrong but I thought tsb's were more to help mechanics diagnose/fix issues after the fact, not before.

Your understanding of what 'certified' means and what a TSB is needs a recall.

If you recall the difference of what a recall is and what a TSB is, one might recall the a recall is a "must fix", where as a TSB is a fix if broken type of thing, if I recall correctly?

yes I understand this. but what I don't understand is why they wouldn't go through the tsb's when getting the vehicle ready to sell and put a "certified" stamp on it. The previous owner might not of fixed the applicable tsb's for that vehicle even if they did apply. I had to almost twist the service managers arm to look into the tsb's to see if one applied for the issue i'm having.

TSBs are voluntary, and they don't effect every single truck.

    That's why.

Sorry your dealer sucks, but TSBs are free if they apply to your vehicle - used or not, certified or not.

That would be axle wrap. Make sure that the rear u-bolts are torqued to specification. And maybe you need to grease the splines in the shaft.

its a Toyota truck and that's all the modifications needed
bought mine used with the Toyota certified warranty they sent it out to me with a blown front strut, and none of the 30k maintainence done, lesson of today is don't rely on those f**kers for anything , also I had taken it to 3 Toyota dealers to get the obvious blown strut fixed most of them said that if you bought it here we would fix it so take it back to them!!! they call them stealerships for a good reason.

I still can't get over how the dealer by me had a certified 2014 SR5 with 20k miles and with bedside scratches, worn tires and other work usage artifacts for $34k. $34k!?! Wasn't that what a TRD cost new that year? Are you f'ing kidding me? My brand new loaded 2011 TRD was $29400.

    Toyota dealers are just arrogant..

It's insane how privileged a vehicle owner is compared to every other type of consumer.

They're like middle aged blonde housewives who go to a restaurant to drink wine while their kids run around annoying everybody, and then start cussing people out when they complain.

Well for MOST people, a car is the most expensive purchase they will ever make.
Of course others buy real estate.
So you can tell if they own property by how demanding they are. Easy going = property owners. Super demanding = that is their most expensive possession.
