So you guys are saying I'm being demanding because I bought a certified used vehicle and want it to be mechanically sound?
This is one of the dumbest thing I have ever heard. Judging someone by whether they own property or not. jeezus

It's a USED vehicle. If it's "certified", it's under warranty, so quit your useless bitching on TW(which does you no good)and go get it fixed. TSB's are not required fixes, but you don't seem to understand?

Its in the shop now Richard. As far as bitching I didn't think I was, more just letting people know they don't check for applicable TSB's whenever its a Certified Vehicle. And no its not under warranty. So I guess you don't know it all...when you thought you did.

Enlighten me. If you certify a vehicle I would assume you would at least drive it around the bock.....right? I not saying take it on a road course and a 50mile loop, Just take it out and see if you notice anything. I understand that a tsb is based on a customer complaint by vehicle. What im saying is when they are going through their 300point checklist to certify it and come across something factory related wouldn't they check the tsb's to see if one applies for what they found? I guess not. also when someone comes in for service and gives a description of the problem wouldn't you want to check the tsb's then as well? I honestly had no idea about tsb's until getting on this site 6-8 months after purchase of my truck.

My dealership sends all of its used vehicles out to a small shop to get provincial inspections and certifications. The dealership charges so my much, they can't afford themselves. So when you say dealer certified, that depends on the stealership.

That sound could also come from really badly worn leaf spring bushings.

Also, why pay anyone to install driveshaft? Hella easy to do.

With the number of tsb's out there it wouldn't be cost effective to go through the list when certifying used cars. Unless it's a obvious problem they wait for a complaint from the customer.

yea I didn't plan on paying the dealership to do the work. Talked them into doing a free trouble shoot on it (after talking to the GM). If they find out there is a issue covered by the tsb but out of mileage they will submit it to Toyota to see if they will cover it, if not, I'm doing it myself. they told me I have a 50/50 shot of getting it covered by Toyota. also not real sure how much a drive shaft is but my guess is not cheap for a new oem.

I understand that. But if they found something wrong when certifying it shouldn't they check the tsb's?

Why would they spend money when they don't have to? Seems kind of obvious that they wouldn't do the TSBs.

To keep there customer happy? to keep people from coming back with issues on a vehicle they just bought. idk its the right thing to do IMO. I guess I have a skewed vision of how things are suppose to be

A TSB is just a set of instructions a car manufacturer creates to help their dealers diagnose a customer complaint. If under warranty the manufacturer reimburses the dealer for it; if not, the owner pays for it. I imagine a dealer would have a hard time getting the manufacturer to pay for a service without a service ticket being open with a customer.

I think the TSB's should be addressed before putting the "certified" moniker on it. That is kind of misleading and shady.

And what if the tech didnt feel the the thie on the test drive does it happen 100% or the time, like everyone on here said TSB's are customer complaint related, and the tech has to duplicate your problem in order for you to get it done for free.
