My 2013 Tacoma has 3rd Gen suspension with KYB top hats because the guy I bought the set from kept the OEM pair. I’m looking at the Headstrong 1/2” (1” lift) spacers and their website states that they’re only guaranteed to be compatible with OEM mounts. Has anyone tried to use them with KYB mounts and had success? Will I have this issue with any 1/2” spacer that includes studs?

The same shit everyone else has.
I have a 3/8” and a 1/4” top plate spacer stacked on KYB mounts and there’s enough stud to tighten the KYB supplied nuts down. There isn’t enough thread to use the oem nuts though.

Top hats are cheap. I think 85 bucks.

I know. But for the sake of time and labor, disassembling and reassembling struts, etc. I’m just curious what the problem could be with using KYB top hats.

Good to know, thank you! I already have 1/4” spacers but I’m wanting to add another 1/4”. Maybe I’ll go the stacking route, I just assumed it wasn’t a good idea to do that.

I have 3/8” top plates on both sides and the additional 1/4” one on just the driver side to compensate for the factory lean.
