Does anyone know if I can install an OEM Entune headunit from a 2016 Tacoma in my 2018? I've currently got the basic headunit and the headunit I'm looking to buy has Nav and all that other good stuff.

If the new headunit has NAV, you are probably going to need the sharkfin antenna that holds the NAV antenna, SXM antenna, not to mention the cables that run to it.

Here's the configuration on the Access Cabs. Don't have the one for Double Cabs but it is probably similar.

you'll need the gps antenna. you already have the xm antenna. there used to be a guy selling used head units from wrecked tacos in the buy/sell forum. the oem GPS antenna is around $100 i think. the aftermarket one from crutchfield is like $25.

I guess the other advantage swapping to 2016 or 2017 HU for you is that you’ll have access to your USB folders and cover art while driving. I’m assuming all 2018’s have that disabled like my wife’s C-HR.

You also may need to replace your dash bezel too. The SR5’s have a smaller opening than the TRD’s with the Entune Premium. Not sure about the 18’s, but I would check first.

I tried to sell mine and the buyer did some research and told me that the head units are tied to the VIN. I took it at face value and carried on. So I have no idea if it's true or not.

Did it on my 2016 SR5. Swapped to premium head unit 2018 TRD 4x4 OR.
All you have to purchase is center bezel to fit with new hu. Everything else are there....
The Entune apps is tied to VIN... if you know the VIN then you may register and get the additional apps..else careless about these new apps. These apps are worthless imo.

Does that affect the use of Nav too?

How much ya gonna ask for it, and it is an actual Nav unit and not one that you have to use Scout App on phone to use

It's the built in nav. It's the radio that's a step below the JBL. Out of my 2017 TRD Sport. I don't remember having to use an app. Nav was just there. It's been out for a while...

I was looking to get $110 if I have to ship. $100 if local.

Someone messaged me about it. So we can go from there.

A back step for when I get older, Carhartt seatcovers, 4Runner wheels, Topper, and "tats all folks"! --for now!!
Go back through my posts and you will find the right numbers-- I posted them many times. Just be ready to spend about 200 bucks on the dash part. BTW there are 4 different colors -so be sure you get the right assembly.
I did this swap -to the better head unit and I am happy.
When you send in to register it with Entune -- you need a vin # of a truck that came with the better HU. There are ways to get a "good" vin #!
Mine swapped out perfectly --nothing additional needed (except the dash part)
Check salvage places -- might save you some bucks!

Oh and BTW -- the price of $110 for this HU -- is a steal of a lifetime!!
