    OP,
I think the responses you got were mostly out of the leading post, perhaps when asking questions of people you don't know leave out things like
"sucked a diick" and "engine mounts suck in the 05s, the bumpers suck" that is going to come across to most people like bashing, instead go with something like i heard there are are issues with the 05 tacomas, primarily the engine mounts and rear ends , anyone had theses issues our hear about them? ...just a suggestion

well, when you come on a tacoma forum and ask if the 05+ tacomas sucked a dick, your asking for trouble...

Toyota differentials are pretty tough if you gear them according to tire size (on the TRD offroad axle) You dont want high gearing on oversized tire because naturally it puts quite a bit of strain on the R&P. the non TRDs seem to be tougher... I have heard of 2 tacomas rear end failing and they were in an area noone would dream of taking a f150, both situations were rock crawling. Secondly, the front diff is cast iron unlike everyone elses aluminum diffs. Toyota has a rep for having the best front diff for running a locker on IFS.

There was a engine mount and weak tailgate issue on some Tacomas that has been remedied in newer models 07+

as far as bumpers go, there are no major problems. If you want something for offroading your going to replace them anyway... most trucks these days have plastic or tin bumpers for "crumple zones" and pedestrian safety.

05, no issues except the TOB...fixed that about 6000 thousand miles ago, no issues since. I had an isolated incident with a leaking drivers side cowl seem but I but some sealer on that and no issues. Very solid truck, no major off road stuff for me.

And as has been said, as a newbie to Tacoma's, its best not to come into a forum looking for info with that type of attitude. No one did anything to you so there is no reason to name call either. Be nice to us and we'll take care of you, cop a 'tude and well...no one wants to help an ass. Just my .02

aaron, honestly I came in here with intention of learning more about the tacoma and to see if what I have heard is true. People started calling me trolls and shit for no reason. Sorry I didn't post the questions in the way people want to see them, maybe they should wait and see before they start calling me "names"

They called you a troll because of the abrasive way in which you presented your interest in learning about these trucks. It happens a lot on here...someone comes in, bashes Tacoma's with a post styled similar to yours. Usually spells troll. If you want good info look around the site, huge amounts of info here and everyone here owns a Tacoma, we are willing to help if you're willing to learn and listen to us.

    Agreed,

The other day it was a bunch of asshat frontier owners stirring up shit.

All of the answers would have been easily found if you searched the forum first...

When I was in Mexico a couple years ago working at the Tacoma plant, I saw a few vehicles you don't see here, one of which was a 4-door Ranger. It looked pretty sweet! Guess there's not much of a market here for small 4-door pickups. Chevy sold a 4-door version of the S10 for awhile, but it was a pretty rare sight.

I'm new to TW but have been on TN for a few years, and have never heard any mention of motor mounts, bumpers, or rear axles being a problem. I didn't know about the '05 motor mounts until reading this thread.

This guy isn't a troll, he is asking valid questions as the 2005 models are known to have engine motor mount problems (they were not reinforced), so stop bashing him. He is trying to do the right thing and switch from Ford to Toyota.

    I am a former Ford F150 and 250 Owner
I am very happy with my 2011 Tacoma
    I have owned the 03-05-09 F150, and the 11 F250
I have nothing bad to say about Ford Trucks, the reason I switched to the Toyota is for better gas mileage.
With my new 2011 Tacoma I am paying 50% LESS on gas and my loan payment is $200 less per month.
I NEVER owned a Ford that got anything better than 14 MPG
The F150 is a very heavy truck, it needs more engine power to move it, more engine power requires more gasoline, simple as that.

Please! don't embarress yourself telling me that the F150's get 20 MPG cause I owned them and I NEVER got anything higher than 14 MPG, even on a 1000 mile cross country trip!

I believe gas prices are going higher to $5 to $7 a gallon by 2012 and I dumped my full size Ford getting the good trade in resale value now cause once gas prices do increase all full size pickups will be worthless!

Edit: One problem with all Ford Trucks (both the F150, F250) is the BRAKES SUCK! #1 They don't work when cold, I have to stand on the brakes with 2 feet to stop, #2 Always a spongy pedal that goes to the floor, #3 Ford's anti-lock system doesn't work cause its too long of a delay before it kicks in, (the wheels have to lock up for a long time before the anti-lock begins to work) #4 Every year between 5000 to 10.000 miles it needs a $800-$1200 brake job with new rotors!
Thats the first thing I noticed driving the Toyota Tacoma, the brakes work excellent, even with old fashioned rear drum brakes!

Ok.. I will aswer your questions the best I can.

    Vehicle 2007 DC Tacoma

Bumpers... Fine. no issues to date

Rear End. needs more maintenance than the F-150, change fluid every 30k
Motor Mounts. No issues, heard some issues in 05

Sucked a Dick. I have not personally seen my truck suck any dick, not to say it hasnt..... just have not caught it in the act of doing so.

Fuel Mileage.... Excellent over a F-150
