I can attest coasting down a hill in my truck through cold dense air is slower by a few mph opposed to warm summer temps with tire pressure being the same.

lol it just says pressure x volume at one temp has to equal pressure x volume at another temp. It's the law...

@110 I have the AC on, there is a noticeable decrease in usable HP.

You can't use Thermodynamics in this forum.

This equation relates pressure, volume and temperature at 2 different conditions through a set of ideal assumptions. Use of this requires the pressure to be in absolute units and temperature to be referenced to absolute zero.

:rofl:your point? I sometimes misappropriate formulas to make a point, in this case nothing is free. I have a joke tho:

"Did you hear about the guy who fell into a vat cooled to -459 degrees F?"
    "Don't worry, he's 0K.."

Cooler denser air is helpful for engines, and engines have an optimal running temperature regulated by the thermostat. Keep your coolant fresh every 2 years and a good OEM thermostat in it and you'll be fine.

I had the bucket list opportunity to fly a small airplane and there are more temperature gauges than anything else. Now that electric planes are being tested that will be a thing of the past.

Anecdotally, it was 117° yesterday here in Phoenix, and my truck ran like crap. 100° or less seems to be its sweet spot. In the very cold I have no idea how it runs.

PT, just fill your air filter box with ice. Crushed ice will cool faster, but block ice will last longer.

This discussion hints around at why drag racers like cool humid air.

Im definitely interested in your joining the LWAI team! We are looking for motivated brand ambassadors to help bring the Luke-Warm Air Intake to the overlanding market.

Prior to us signing the papers, I need you to send all your Dogecoin to an account I have in Nigeria.

Or reduce the mix to more distilled water less coolant. You can do 60-70% water to coolant in hot weather.

I find the whole topic of high performance piston engines in combat aircraft and squeezing every last bit of power out of them fascinating.
Lots of detail and obscure history can be found in this channel:
