Ok, so heres my story/problem, any help would be greatly appreciated...
Beiginning of March I'm on my way home from a motocross race and the wife was complaing she was cold. I looked at the heat controls and the heat was on full blast, but was blowing cold air...so I go 3 weeks with no heat and finally get the time to get the truck to the dealer.

I tell the dealer the same story, tell them that the blower motor is working and the selector switch is fine just no heat just cold air. They look at the truck and call me and say "our mechanic road tested the truck and cpould not duplicate the problem"..so I go to the dealer and get the truck back and now there is heat, but it is only "luke warm", not like before...It used to make me sweat when it was on full blast...the dealer says "thats normal".

So the next day, after getting the truck back...guess what...NO HEAT, cold air...and the day after that..."luke warm"????????

    WTF???

I personally checked all fuses, anti-freeze levels, and anything else I could think of...I was going to replace the thermostat, but the temp guage is fine, it holds steady like it always has at halfway...The only thing I can think of is maybe the temp selector switch is bad, but the delaer said they wont replace it if they cannot duplicate the problem.

Oh, by the way the truck is a 2006 Tacoma TRD Sport 4.0L V-6 with 21, 000 miles, so it is still under warranty.

    Any help would be appreciated.

No, nothing is making noise...Like I said, the Off/Low/High Dial/Switch works, and the Selector swith for Floor/Vent/combo/Defroster works, just not the Cold/Hot Dial...I turn all the way to the right (hot) and it only blows luke warm air....I was thinking something with that dial might of went bad, and as for another toyota dealer...I would have to drive another 50 miles from the one I got to, and that one is already 25 miles from my house. What is this thing in the HVAC that you are talking about???

Its a door that closes when you dont want hot air, or opens when you do. when it opens it shoots air through the heater core making hot air, when its closed u get the cold air

I was thinkning of going to the dealer, telling the service mngr to get the keys to a new tacoma, having him blast the heat, then tell him to tell me mine is "normal"...Might work???

Thanks for the insight guys, as of right now it seems to be an intermittent problem, I think I am going to go back to the dealer, have him compare to an new tacoma, maybe suggest what you said about the HVAC, and ask if it could be a faulty heater core, or an electrical problem with the switch...I guess i will just keep taking it back as long as I have to until the problem is corrected...they will eventually get sick of seeing me!!!

My heater is the worst I have ever had as far as warming the truck up, if it is 40 degrees out I can leave the temp max for the 30 minute drive to work, and never get hot feet.
I can leave the AC off and just turn the temp selector cold and it will blow air a good 20 degrees colder then outside air.

The dealer said bring it in and they will put a temp probe in the vent and check if it's putting out heat to specs, just haven't been down that way yet.

When I turn the heat on full blast it gets hot enough to literally make me sweat within minutes, maybe 4 to 5 tops. (35 degree outside temp)

FWIW, I can hear a very faint noise that comes from the passenger side near the blower motor when the temperature dial is turned. I believe the noise comes from the door flap that proportions the hot/cold air mixture. Maybe you have a problem down there?

The dealer originally told me the heat was at spec of 118 degrees, I find that very hard to believe. All I know right now is something isn't right!!!
