My 2.7 manifold heat shield is almost history. What would it effect to just ditch shield. This is a real question!
    Thanks

If your current heat shield is loose, it would make your truck quieter.

On a high performance engine it can help to shield the intake manifold from the heat from the exhaust manifold (non-issue on a 2.7 since they're on opposite sides) and it can help protect any wiring that's close to the exhaust manifold (I don't think there's any on a 2.7?)

If you want to rip it off but you're worried about excessive heat, you can always just wrap it with manifold tape, but I really don't think it'd be an issue. Seems like most of the time the heat shields are only there to keep the mechanics (or sue-happy owners) from getting burnt when they're working on a vehicle.

Cool, I was thinking maybe the ac lines needed to be shielded.
It will be getting rid of bothersome noise! Thanks
