Hi Jaimes , yes my truck is a 2015 What switch's should be green . My A.C and recirculation light up amber . I have no other switch's that light up . Or maybe I'm looking in the wrong place. Do you mean the whitish tinge/glow to the switch itself or is there a amber or green square like the A.C. switch

If you check post number 68 it will show the difference between green and amber illumination. To give you an idea what I am talking about check out this photo.Switches.jpg

On mine (2014) the RSCA Off to the right and traction control to the left light up in green at night time. So as you can imagine the heated mirrors switch in the middle would look a little out of place if it was lit up in amber rather than green.

As far as I know these switched from amber to green illumination in 2012. I can ship either colour option for you, not a problem. Just wanted to make sure you get the one you want. It's pretty hard to see the illumination in day time unless you can cup your hands over the switches with the headlights on. Otherwise if you wait until night time then it is very easy to see.

    Hope that helps.

Sounds good, I'll make sure it is green then. I guess for anyone reading, if you order the wrong colour on the left of steering wheel option it won't be the end of the world, the different coloured bulb can be purchased at a dealership for around $4-5. It is pretty easy to change the bulb and get the desired colour.

On the under the AC switch options unfortunately the colour can't be changed as it is two different switches for the two different colours. The bulbs can't be changed so if you ended up requesting the wrong colour you would actually need a whole new switch.

Finished installing it today. And it works. But just one question jaimes. The passenger takes longer to warmer up than the driver side any idea? But that being said it may be because the one mirror was in the sun so it started warmer already. Very easy install it did take some time on our part just some minor hiccups. Thanks again can't wait to tell the frost to fuck off

Nice! It could be that the one side in the sun got a bit of a head start. When they have reached full temp did they both seem about equally warm?

I did see a few people in the DIY heated mirrors thread mention that one side heated faster than the other and never really saw anyone post much more as to why or if it was resolved. It's possible that one side has a better ground connection then the other. Did you use the ground locations in the instructions and scuff up the surface behind the bolt down to bare metal?

All that said you do have a good point that if it was daytime and one mirror was in the sun and the other shaded then that could very well be the reason if you compared them shortly after they started heating.

I haven't noticed that on any of them I've installed yet, but I have usually checked a minute or two after having started the mirrors and they seemed to be the same temp by feel.

I've been in Alberta during the winter before... You will defiantly be enjoying this mod!

I will try in the morning when it's cooled off and see how they feel when I get to work. I'm confident in the grounding and everything so I'm not too worried about it. I didn't get any pics as my truck was half in the garage and a storm was coming in. But anyone who buys this will be very happy. It was shipped very fast with a tracking number, packaged very well and the walk through is spot on. Thank you again and every other member that helped this come to life.

I have a ton of supplies coming in the week after next. Then it looks like I'll be pretty busy building these harnesses

Thanks again to everyone who has put an order in

I'm interested in a kit, but am holding off until we see if SMKYTXN's blind spot mirrors will come with the heaters or not.

How are people choosing between the 5 minute and 15 minute timers? Is there an advantage to the 5 over the 15?

I'm pretty sure his plan is to offer both heated and non heated mirrors, but it would be best to check with him on that.

I think most people who see fog / dew with some light frost are ordering the 5 minute option whereas people who live in a climate that pretty much frosts over the mirrors for most of the winter are getting the 15 minute option.

It's really just personal preference. The options are how long it will automatically cycle the mirrors for you.

If you have the 15 minute option and your mirrors have cleared up in 10 minutes you can press the switch again to stop the heating cycle.

If you have the 5 minute option and you needed a little longer than 5 minutes press the switch again once it has finished a cycle to start another 5 minute heating cycle.

Really can't go wrong with either option :)

So just finished the install. Jaimes has put together a quality kit. Great communications and tips throughout the sale.

    1. Instructions were right on the money.
    2. Don't freak out when you see that only one of the new mirrors has two longish metal prongs and the other doesn't. This is by design.
    3. Remove the door speakers when running the wires, gives a little extra room for the ham-hands and you shouldn't have to rip/cut the plastic.
    4. The under-AC switch did not fit my cutouts. I had to shave the top rail on both sides of the switch to make it fit. No biggy.
    5. Ended up with maybe 12" of excess harness on the passenger side. No biggy, just zipped it up nice 'n tidy.
    6. Make sure you got the right amp fuse for the add-a-fuse. Out of all the fuses I keep for various everythings, 7.5 was the only one missing. Off to the store I went.
    7. The instructions say it already, but I'll say it again since I know some folks like me are always tense when exerting more pressure than you think it should take to pop something open or snap it back together, but snapping in the new mirrors does take some force. Door panels and trim piees came off nice enough.
    8. All said and done, everything works as advertised.

Now hurry up and wait for some cold weather.

Thanks for the write up and I appreciate you sharing some helpful tips with everyone

Just a couple of things. I was surprised to hear the switch didn't slip right in. I've only done one install myself of the Under the AC option and it did go in without any issues. I wonder if the switch openings have slightly changed at any point. It is fairly easy to shave off the rails on the switch if they prevent the switch from going into the opening. I would have taken care of that for you if I had known it wouldn't slip in as made. Something I'll look into some more.

With the add a fuses I'm actually in the works of switching to a different style add a fuse that will allow you to reuse the fuse from the slot that you have put the add a fuse into. The trucks use an ATM mini low profile fuse, the current add a fuse takes ATM mini but I will be switching suppliers to get them to take the low profile version... Just makes things that little bit easier for everyone.

Last but not least... Yes the mirrors take a good amount of force to get the bottom clips to snap into place. The original mirrors are like this too, but I would agree that the amount of force is just enough to have you start wondering if something isn't right. I like to use my palm to spread that force a little. Something I haven't tried before but would probably make it go in easier is to use a hair dryer and warm up the two clip areas on the back of the mirror backing plate.

Thanks again for the write up, glad to hear it went well!

Also like the tip on removing the speaker to help with running your wires. I've always cut the plastic sheet and then tape seal it back when done but I can see how your way would allow more hand clearance in the door and allow you to probably route your wires without having to cut open that dust seal.

Lmao I thought I lost those metal strip for the passenger side. So I stole them from the oem ones. Me and my friend thought we were losing our minds because we couldn't find them

That is funny lol. Do either of you guys know the purpose of those two prongs on the driver side mirror? I had a look in there and couldn't figure out what they were there for and why they are only on the driver mirror.

My only guess is to help it stay still and help with vibrations. But didn't really look to hard.
