Put me on the Canuk list. I have a 2014 TRD off-road. On the left of the steering wheel all the switch slots are taken. There are two slots below the radio.

So I think I require a right hand switched, green light, five min timer.

    Cheers,

    Peter

You know what, count me in for a fall buy. Definitely Left of Steering. Just debating between the color and timer options. 5 or 15 min... Isnt longer better or have you personally found a preference? Does the 15 min burn longer and thus have less lifetime? Just looking for pros/cons.

Well I personally think 5 minutes is good for dew or very light frost. If you are in a climate that gets really cold and frosts the mirrors up good then 15 minute timer is probably the better option. I think the mirrors would last a VERY long time regardless of running them in 5 minute or 15 minute cycles... But one could make a good argument that if you were to cycle a pair of mirrors a thousand times on 5 min vs 15 min, the 5 min cycled mirrors should in theory have 1/3 the wear and tear.

I can say this though, every switch option I have available has a cancel option. For example if you have a 15 minute switch and the frost is all gone in 7 minutes all you have to do is press the switch again and it will turn the mirrors off rather than finish its 15 minute cycle. All the switches also have a bar that lights up to show you whether the mirrors are on or not. That's something I'm about to post below to show what the switches look like when on and off, so check out the post below.

Just let me know once you decide what you need and I'll add you to the list. Since you have a 2015 I believe your stock switches probably illuminate in green, but you should double check on that.

A few of you have asked me questions about the illumination of these switches. These aren't great pictures and probably would have been better to not have it pitch black, but they should let you know the difference between amber & green switches.

Below is what they look like when illuminated (at night with headlights on) but without the mirrors actively heating. image.jpg

Below is what they look like when illuminated (at night with headlights on) and with mirrors actively heating. image.jpg

Both of these are left of steering wheel 5 minute switches. Although I didn't include a picture, if you had the mirrors heating but headlights not on then the bottom portion does not light up but the top status bar would still be functional to let you know if the mirrors are heating or not. Hope that helps

I have mirrors color matched to truck body. Also turn signal lights in mirrors. How will this work with your mod? Sure hope it will as I live in cold/constant snow Alberta.

Well provided your mirrors are stock and not aftermarket the it would work great! Exactly the application the kit was designed for

I am interested in this for my 2012 TRD. What is the complexity of the install and if you were to put a time to it.... how long does it take with this kit>?

    Thanks Jaimes.
I like the idea of amber, as other vehicles I've had in the past have used that indicator for "heat".
So please sign me up for left of steering, amber, 15 minutes.
    Thanks so much.

Well I've done a number of installs at this point so I have got it down to about 1-1.5 hours. If it is your first time at it you may need to add about an hour onto that. None of it is really hard or complex work but running wires and making it tidy so that everything looks like it came factory installed can take a bit of time. My plan is to do an install either this week or next while documenting and taking photos. Then Next weekend (27th-28th) I will format all of that into some instructions that I can post up for you guys.

Also thanks for the lead. It would certainly be good if I can get the cost down on a couple of the expensive parts like the mirrors and switches
