This is actually one of the benefits I wanted. I put the truck into 2 low and back my trailer down the boat ramp. I turn the truck off to unload or load my boat. I start the truck (still in 2 low) and drive back up the boat ramp.

Plus... I mean, come on - I have a friggin' functional 2 wheel drive low illuminated button!

Sorry I missed your post. Right now I'm out of the illuminated mirror adjust switches but I did place an order for some last night. Realistically it could be a few weeks though.

That's a good point I suppose, with the dedicated switch if you shut the truck off in 2lo when you power the truck back up the module will keep you locked in 2lo provided it detects the 4wd switch in the 4lo position and also detects the added switch pressed in. Since that should be the state you left things in when you shut the truck off it will just automatically keep you in 2lo in that case.

It can be done with the 4wd switch too though, just not automatically. If you were in 2lo when you shut the truck off and wanted to remain in 2lo when you start back up you need to put the 4wd switch between 4hi and 4lo before you turn the key to accessory. Provided the 4wd switch is between those two points when you turn the key it will keep you locked in 2lo then just put the switch back into the 4lo position. Not as automatic as the dedicated switch but is an option.

It's in the software to check these things on initial power up and if the criteria is met it will auto lock literally within milliseconds before the ADD engages and puts you in 4lo.

    It works great though!

If I found myself with less traction than anticipated and I stopped trying to make forward progress, can I push the button while in 2 low and have the ADD activate? Hopefully that makes sense. I guess another way to put it would be can I go directly from 2 low to 4 low without going back to 2 high, then 4 high and finally 4 low? If you aren't sure, I'll just try it

That one would be a no. Before I got too deep into getting this developed I looked into a few possibilities on how to accomplish 2lo and that was one of them, actually that would have also been the easiest to do as well. I decided though that I didn't want the module directly in charge of actions like that.

Instead it sends commands to the 4wd ECU and the ECU then determines if it's okay to proceed. For the most part the 4wd ECU still gets to be in charge of everything just so you can't accidentally engage low range when it's not mechanically safe to do so.

Probably a good call. I tried it this morning before I read this post. It's functioning as intended. I did a tree job this morning and I'm going rafting this afternoon. I'm using the hell out of this mod!!!

I installed it tonight in 10 minutes!

    Works exactly as expected!

I will add that I had previously performed the DPDT relay for the "Locker Anytime" Mod which uses the same wiring harness as this module and I had already installed the "ABS Kill Switch" mod and this 2Lo Module works perfectly with both either on/off or whatever. 2Lo works regardless of the others mods status or vice versa.

    Great Job Jaimes!!!!!

    Very Happy Customer!!!

I got around to installing the 2lo module box. It was as simple as everyone and the installation instructions stated.
I took the truck out and put it through a few paces. Initial thoughts are this thing is great. It works like it is supposed to. It makes those times when running a trail and you need more low end but not four wheel, simple and easy. Just a little turn of the 4x switch and a few seconds of your time and you are in 2lo. I have a 4cyl standard, now I don't have to worry about trying to slip the clutch in the middle of a hill to get started. It'll make backing a trailer in easier along with a multitude of other unforeseeable future events. The only issue I had was at one point I went to go to four wheel from 2lo. I went through the steps to disengage 2lo, when the dial was in 2hi I put the dial back to 4hi and it remained in 2lo. I think it's my fault, I think I didn't give the module enough time to disengage. I put the truck back in to 2hi and waited a little longer before putting it in 4hi and it worked.
All in all it is a great product and I am looking forward to using it in my future adventures. Thanks @Up2NoGood!

@Up2NoGood you should start a dedicated 2low thread if production can support increased sales. I bet you could sell tons of these. Looks like another solid product like your heated mirror kits.

    Hey Guys,

Sorry for not being nearly as present in this thread as I usually am. I have a business entirely separate from this and we have been absolutely swamped lately with no real end in sight so I've been hard at work on that front.

Glad to hear it! I figured it would work both with the ABS kill & locker anytime, but since I haven't done those mods in my own truck I didn't want to make any claims that it would or wouldn't work.

Sure thing. It might be a little while, but I have made arrangements to do a run of around 50 units. Still haven't found a viable solution on someone building the harnesses so I'll probably end up just building them myself for this run. It seems the problem is 2 of the connector are hard to purchase unless I'm willing to buy over 1,000 of them at a time. Those specific connectors are critical to making it a plug and play kit though. I have enough on hand to do about 25 kits and have ordered enough to do another 25, but I am told my order will be delayed.

Those are all the reasons I decided to go ahead with this! It's not the kind of thing most people will need daily, but when you do need 2lo it sure is handy to have it as an option. As far as disengaging 2lo it could be a couple of possibilities. 1 example is if you went from the 2lo position straight through to 2hi without having properly disengaged low range. For example since you have a manual if you were in 2lo and then put the switch to the 4hi position and then the 2hi position but you didn't fully engage the clutch which would keep you in low range. The module can detect that you are still in low range and wouldn't allow you to exit 2lo mode in that case.

The other possibility which is more likely is that when you put the switch in 2hi there is a momentary delay in the module exiting 2lo mode. The switch needs to be in the 2hi position for about 1 second before it exits 2lo mode. I initially had it programmed to exit immediately when the switch goes to the 2hi position but what I found is when shifting between 4lo and 4hi position there is a momentary signal fed to the module that imitates the 2hi position and the module could detect it and disengage 2lo mode when you didn't want it to. To prevent that from happening it needs to get the signals of a 2hi shift that remain constant for 1 full second before disengaging.

Hopefully that's not too confusing, but the delay is there for a specific reason :)

I'm in full agreement with that! I think with a dedicated thread and word of mouth there would be a large amount of interest. You pretty much nailed it though that I would want to first make sure I could support larger numbers. I've kept it hidden away in this thread intentionally lol.

The button seems to alleviate this. I have switched over pretty quickly a few times and it hasn't missed a beat yet. I use 2 low no less than 10 times per week. Amazing product!!!!!

Oh, and my heated mirrors kick ass too!!!

Better late than never! I'm also guilty of having a few truck mods that have been sitting in my basement waiting for install for over a year now. I'm sure you'll be enjoying the kit in a few months from now when things start cooling off!

Damn you get a lot of use out of that! I'm sure your clutch will be happy with the change lol

Working on a batch of heated mirror kits for some of you guys who have been waiting, thanks for the patience! I've messaged and emailed everyone on the wait list but if for some reason I've missed anyone just contact me and I'll work on your kit too. That would be for the Mirror adjust kits and under AC kits... The left of steering kits are in stock.
