Hey OP what’s holding you back from getting these out on the market?

 

The post above pretty much sums things up from a previous update. As tempting as it is to just dive in with a large PCB order, I'd be stuck with thousands of dollars of useless PCBs if everything wasn't right. Although it's expensive to do just a few like I'm doing, it does allow me to make sure everything is correct first, then proceed accordingly.

Maybe I'm being a bit overly cautious but since it is my first time working with this new assembly company I want to inspect their work first.

Awesome work! First major superbly crafted plug and play solution Ive seen on this item. I would also like to have a 2lo mod, but wouldn't even know where to start -- well except for crowd sourcing https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/2-lo-mod-ideas-mt-if-that-makes-a-difference.482744/. But I do have some electrical equipment like o-scope and dmm if that can be of use to helping further a solution/collaboration for us 3rd gens. Looking forward to see if you ever make some headway into it!

 

Just a quick 2lo update. Although I don’t have the PCBs in hand yet, the new assembly company has sent me a few photos. My initial thoughts are that the work looks good, but I’ll have to wait until I can inspect them in person.

As a comparison here is the first batch that I made. Had to use Up2NoGood assembly Ltd on the initial batch so they are somewhat of a limited edition (don’t plan to hand assemble them again lol)





Provided everything checks out good with this small order I’ll move right into a larger order. I only ordered 5 or 6 to first confirm the assembly quality.

I’m going to be leaving on a holiday right after Christmas so I won’t be able to check out the new boards until I get back in a couple weeks. They should be sitting here waiting for me though

I’m sure someone will hop on it for the 3rd gens. The project took a considerable amount of debugging so I can’t see myself working on it without owning a 3rd gen.

I’ll take a look at the thread you posted though, I am curious what hurdles and challenges you guys might be facing to make it happen.

 

Thanks! No rush and in fact, after perusing the 2 manuals side by side, there is only 1 real difference I see-- the skid control computer. Everything else wires up the same it looks like (albeit with different wire colors). But judging by the similarities between both gens that Ive been stumbling across, I wouldnt be surprised if the 4wd computer was mostly the same.

 

Another happy customer! Received my heated mirror kit about a week ago and finally had time to install it today, just in time for -32°C weather! Took about 4 hours to complete and worked first try. First time doing electrical modifications and it was a breeze with the kit he built.

Question: for the mirror adjust option w/illumination - are all controls illuminated? Unlike the stock switch which isn't obviously.

 

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I’m out of the country on holiday right now and haven’t been checking in to frequently. The area that illuminates is the “mirror” button and four arrows as shown in the pic below. The other buttons don’t have any transparency so the can’t be lit up.

 

If you are like me and have plans to add other switchable upgrades later go for the mirror adjust switch option. Takes up no additional space and works perfectly, been using mine allot as of late and they've never let me down.

 

If you get the install instructions, look at your 4x4 ECU and connectors. If they look the same, order a kit. It might work. If not, someone will gladly buy it from you at full price.

 

2lo Update

I've received the boards from the new assembler and everything looks great! Had a very good look at the solder joints, made sure the components used were the ones I specified and of course programmed and confirmed the functionality of the units. I was probably being overly cautious but I just didn't want to place a larger order and then find out there was a problem since these things are a bit costly to build.

I've sent out PM's to a number of people who were interested but still have a few left if anyone subscribed on this thread wants one. I'll probably be posting them up in the buy / sell section later tonight.

Cost is $250 US which includes:
- PCB
- Custom Enclosure
- Wire Harness
- Shipping within Canada or US

Payment accepted is mailed check, postal money order, cash or first born child ... No PayPal on these as the suppliers I'm using don't accept PayPal.

Btw, I think I found OEM Suzuki heated mirror switch that looks like it would fit in the below A/C location. Will verify and update.

 

@Up2NoGood Hey Jaimes, I've got one of your mirror kits that has the left of steering timed switch and I'm interested in changing over to the mirror adjustment switch to free up the dash slot. What's involved in the change and how much would you want for just the switch and any bits required to get it to work?

 

That's the switch I have, well worth it to free up another space
