Make sure to also have the regulators and such not sure if that come with the pads or not hit there would be something to help regulate heat. I’m my 2nd I ended up using aftermarket regulators and ram them to pads I seats I swapped in. Then connected them to try dash. Truck had wiring for it but some parts were still missing. you could potentially add pads and use aftermarket if you do t have the parts that regulates heat and connect to the new switches you listed. If you can go all OEM that would be a nice addition.

Here’s the part list I have so far. Only thing missing from this list is the dual climate control unit which I’ll purchase on the used market. This should cover everything. I am assuming the regulators would be in the OEM heat pad wiring harness.

My seats only have the seat cushion heat. It appears that the seat back would be a simple add on to the existing. Does anyone know if that's the case?

Thanks for letting me know - I'd really like to add the back to at least my driver's seat.

I haven't actually looked, yet, but I don't have back heat on either seat (at least, neither working). I'd be thrilled to find that it's there, and just needs to be plugged in. I bought the truck used, a little over a year ago, and the original owner had had Katskins installed from the get go, so that might be a real possibility.

Definitely following this one. Not excited about $900 + a used HVAC control but man adding the function would be nice and I haven’t found a good aftermarket version. According to a thread I found on Tacoma3G, the seats are pre-wired for heated seats, which is nice. Might have to add a relay to the fuse box area by the steering wheel. Other than that I believe changing the control panel and adding the heaters and plugging them in will have it good to go.

It is so dumb to me that a base model $40K TRD Off-Road doesn’t come with these factory. My $30k Frontier came with them in everything but the absolute lowest trim and did so since like 2009. Crazy.

Something also to keep in mind is make sure to get the control panel that has the right push to start option. Manual trans don’t have that so I’ll have to make sure I get one from a manual TRD Pro or Premium packaged manual Sport/OR. Same for 4WD vs 2WD also.

Yes options on Toyotas are pretty lousy. My VW base model in 2017 came with heated and leather seats at 25k and this was 5 years ago, lol.

If only we lived in Canada their base models in tacomas come with heated seats!

I am only going to start with 1 seat heating pad and climate control unit to test so I don’t have too much into the negative on it in case it doesn’t work. The only reason I’m opting for it — honestly don’t use heated seats often is that I’m adding leather so this would be the time to do it and I didn’t want a moonroof or jbl speakers and I don’t really like rhe quality of the leather on the premium so that option didn’t make sense for me.

My aftermarket seat heaters just have a little flat toggle on the side of the seat. Off, low and high. Nothing that can be seen and super simple.

Yeah I hear you for sure. I didn’t want the sunroof either. JBL not an option for me, and I didn’t want it anyways. The other stuff I’d have been good with but then again, couldn’t find the truck I wanted with that package anyways since I limit myself to the manual pool. So adding seat heaters is definitely a possibility and I’ll be waiting to see what you find. Doing one side first is a good idea.

I know you're looking for 100% OEM, but if that doesn't work out for you, I installed heated seats in the cleanest aftermarket way that I could. They've been installed for almost a year now and working flawless every single day.

You can get the Meso panel to add more switch openings at the center console or even put them in a different location with panels from a few different vendors. You can forgo the seat covers if you want to pull the stock seats apart to install the heating elements. I have small kids, so seat covers are almost a must, otherwise I would have installed them under the stock seat fabric.

Has anyone completed this project--factory heated seats with all OEM parts? Not sure it's worth the cost, but curious about it.

It’s possible, I haven’t done it as I’ve been enjoying my cloth seats more than I thought I would. If I go leather I will definitely be doing the mod.

Give it a go. I shopped out all the parts needed through Toyota and then you’d just need to get the climate control head unit. There are several of them on eBay for around 100.
